Tuesday 7-30-24 Dancing with Di & Terry, Games & More

 

Summertime

We had a very relaxing day hanging around the house. 

Larry started the day off by spreading some dirt on Jason's low spots, he also sprayed around our house for weeds and filled the septic with bleach.

At 10:00 we attended Di Green and Terry McCann's Weekly A2 dance for an hour. Di and Terry took turns calling five tips to 8 participants. During the dance Di called a few four couple moves, which were Motivate, Chain Reaction and Spin the Windmill. Larry danced four tips with me. I always like dancing with him because he helps me go the right direction. It's also great that Di and Terry dance while they call and cue the moves. We had a super time dancing with friends and to Di and Terry.

I did the Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong. The event was Event: Pyramid Adventure of 20 games. It took me 1 hour and 49 minutes to complete, which put me in 12th place in my group. Then I played some Angry Birds.

I worked out with the Synth Riders for an hour.

While I played games and worked out Larry read. He started and finished a book.

Larry worked on a new upgrades to our pinball games. He used a new program to update the information on some games. He started by only updating one, good thing since he ran into a problem and the game would no longer work. Larry had installed the newest version last week, the developer found a couple of problems and released a new version today. Once Larry updated the program he was able to update the rest of his tables. He worked on The Bourne Identity, Elvira Party Monsters and Apollo 13. He played Apollo 13 after the fix and it worked great.

Later I decided to play pinball and he asked me to play The Bourne Identity and Elvira Party Monsters to make sure they worked. So I did and they worked great. I also played Twilight Zone and Elvira Scared Stiff. I came in the 4th high score position in Elvira Party Monsters so I could put my initials in the game. I had a fun playing pinball.

In the evening we watched the Olympics. When Larry went to bed I watched Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. I ended up doing 17,500 steps, which put me in 1st place in my group.

 

 

Monday 7-29-24 Dancing, Playing Pinball. Errands & Games

 

Happy Monday

We had another windy humid day with the high of 93 degrees.

We started the day out by attending Di Green and Terry McCann's  Weekly C1 at 9:00 for an hour. Di called five tips to 9 participants. Larry danced four of the tips with me. Di did an excellent jog of calling and cueing the dance. Di and Terry dance with the dancers, which helps a lot because they help keep us in the right place. Larry helps me a lot. We had an outstanding time dancing with friends.

Larry wrote a message to Joe and Chris Saltel to put on card. We wanted to wish Joe well considering he is still having health problems. We also want to send them a little money to help with things they might need.

 After the dance we went to the post office to mail the card. While we were in town we stopped by the UPS Store to pick up our mail and a package that was waiting for us. The package was from Shirley. It was our birthday gifts and some goodies (peanut butter Krispy Treats and fudge with walnuts). Our birthdays aren't for awhile but we celebrate them before our Fall Trip. We're planning on leaving the end of next month. Then we went to Walmart and picked up a few items.

We spent the afternoon snacking on the goodies Shirley sent. They were delicious. Shirley also sent a couple of wildlife magazines, Best Friends magazine, calendar and a couple of Puzzles & Brain Teasers books. Thank you Shirley for the goodies and other gifts.

Larry and I played some pinball. Larry played The Creature of the Black Lagoon, The Godfather, Queen and No Fear. He had a super day of playing pinball while I worked out.

I worked out with the Synth Riders for an hour. Then I played pinball. I played the games Larry played and the weekly challenge Twilight Zone. I got my last high score accepted in Twilight Zone after explaining it was the correct game for the challenge. Today I got a new high score of 94,603,970, which put me in 14th place out of 17 participants.

I did the Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong. The event was Event: Medium Mayhem Mini of 15 games. It took me 53 minutes and 26 seconds, which put me in 17th place in my group. Then I played Angry Birds.

In the afternoon we watched YouTube videos. I continued working on my diamond painting, while watching television.

In the evening we continued watching the Olympics. When Larry went to bed I watched the first episode of the second season of Signora Volpe on Acorn. Then I watched K-PAX from our movies collection. I ended up doing 17,500 steps, which put me in 1st place in my group

 

 

 

Sunday 7-28-24 New Pinball Challenge, Diamond Painting, Crafting & Olympics

 

Hot Windy Day

We had a windy day. It got up to 91 degrees, this is a very mild temperature for this time of the year.

Larry spent the morning and early afternoon paper crafting on his Cameo. He worked on another Christmas card. This card is a pop-up card with a beautiful Christmas House. It had a lot of pieces to cut out. It was in a hugh file so Larry had to separate the files in order to cut the pieces correctly. It came out gorgeous.

I did my Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong. The event was Event: Two Game Tango Mini of 10 games (5 Klondike and 5 Tri Peaks). It took me 30 minutes and 43 seconds, which put me in 16th place in my group. Then I moved onto playing Angry Birds.

Today is the beginning of a new pinball games challenge, which is Twilight Zone. I played Judge Dredd, which was last week's challenge. I didn't get a new high score but had fun. Once the new challenge started, which was 2:00 pm Texas time I played it. Larry didn't have too much to do this week because we have been playing it for a little while. He only had to change the ball amount from 5 balls to 3 balls. My high score was 65,450,700 but it was rejected because it didn't look like the other Twilight Zone playfields. They asked if it was VPW Edition. It was so Larry wrote the team and told them it was. Now we have to wait to see what they say.

A couple of months ago Larry bought me a new diamond painting crafting project but since I was working on a jigsaw puzzle I didn't start on it. Now that I have finished my puzzle I decided to do the Cactus painting. It from a different company so some things changed. The painting is square (25 X 25 CM), the last ones were a rectangle (25 X 35). The kit came with 24 different colors of diamonds, one tray, tool to put the diamonds on the painting and a rubber roll to roll down the diamonds. I haven't used the rubber piece yet so I don't know if it works. The diamond numbers on the painting had letters from the alphabet and different figures instead of numbers. Before working on the painting I marked the diamond packs with letters and figures. I'm not a good drawer but the drawings came close to what they look like. I worked on the painting while watching television.

We spent the afternoon and evening watching the Olympics. 

I worked out with the Synth Riders for an hour.

After Larry went to bed I finished watching Cannes Confidential on Acorn. It is a series about a female detective, who works with a con-man to release her father from prison and to get the con-man's passport back. It was a good series. It came out this year and had 6 episodes. It ended as a cliff hangar to continue on to the next season. Then I watched Moulin Rouge! from our movies collection. I ended up doing 17,000 steps, which put me in 2nd place in my group for the week with the total of 122,598 steps.  

  

 

Saturday 7-27-24 Puzzle, Crafting, Games & Olympics

 

We had very mild day with the high of 90 degrees.

I started the day out by working on Winter Haven Refuge jigsaw puzzle. I finished assembling it. It took me almost two months to assemble it. I started 5-31-24 and finished 7-27-24. I worked on it when I had free time, some days I didn't work on it. But the days I worked on it it was an hour or so. Today was the longest day I worked on it, it was for a couple of hours. It was hard because the colors intertwined with each other. But I had a great time.

I did the Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong. The event was Event: Experts Only Mini of 5 games. It took me ! hour and 4 seconds, which put me in 14th place in my group. Then I moved onto playing Angry Birds.

While I played games Larry played pinball. He had a great day of pinball. Then he worked on another Christmas card paper project. He made four of the winter scene, each card is a little different. Three of them have a house and the other has a church in the background and the deer is a different color. He had a fun time crafting.

I played three different games of pinball. They were Judge Dredd, Apollo 13 and Big Buck Hunter Pro. When I played Apollo !3 I played the 13 balls multi-ball and came in the high score #4 position. I entered my initials in both area of scoring. I had a good day of playing pinball.

After Larry went to bed I watched the fourth movie of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Strange Tides. I ended up doing 17,500 steps, which put me in 5th place in my group.

 

 

 

Friday 7-26-24 Dancing with Ett, Crafting & Games

 

Why am I excited? Well, I got a jury notification awhile back that requested my presence on Monday 7/29.24. This afternoon I got an e-mail saying I wasn't needed. That's ok now I can dance with Di and Terry on Monday.

I woke up at 8:00 and had breakfast. Then I went back to bed for a few hours. I woke up on time for lunch.

While I slept Larry started reading a book and in the afternoon he finished it.

I did the Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong before going to bed. Today the event was Event: Hard Road Mini of five games. It took me 11 minutes and 32 seconds, which put me in 3rd place in my group. Then I played Angry Birds.

In the afternoon I worked out with Synth Riders for an hour. Afterwards I played pinball. I had an outstanding day of playing pinball. I played four games the weekly challenge of Judge Dredd, Monster Bash, The Flintstones and NASCAR. When I played Monster Bash and The Flintstones I became Grand Champion.

I attended Ett McAtee's weekly A2 dance at 6:30 for an hour. She called four tips to 12 participants. She helped me out a few times when I was at the wrong place and told me where I should be. During the dance there was lots of talking about the Canadian Square Dance Convention and they shared a couple of videos of the dancing and zoom room. I had a great time dancing and visiting with friends.

While I danced Larry did some crafting. He is working on a winter scene Christmas card, it has a cabin and the surrounding area in it. He's going to make four of the cards. Some of the pieces have a lot of detail in them, they took a long time to cut. 

After the dance we watched the Olympics Opening Ceremony on Peacock. It was a preshow so there was a lot of talking. Larry found the actual opening ceremony and we watched it for a couple of hours. They introduced the athletes from different countries and showed a fashion show on a bridge that was made into a runway. Paris, France is known for fashion. I thought some of the fashions were cool looking. This was the first Olympics to introduce the athletes on the river and it was very nice. There were 85 boats, that took the athletes down the river to Paris to the stadium. In the stadium they had the opening ceremony of lighting the torch. They brought the Olympic flag by horseback across the river and down a huge walkway in the shape of the Eiffel Tower. The voice explaining what is happening was AI generated. Paris did an outstanding job of the opening ceremony and the entertainment was great. They lit a hot air-balloon with the torch. They flew the balloon around Paris and Celina Dion did an outstanding job of singing. 

We wanted to have more options to watch the Olympics so we subscribed to Peacock, we will cancel it after the Olympics. Some of it we could watch via our local TV station but we have not watched over the air TV in years, we stream everything. 

When Larry went to bed I watched Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, which is the third movie. I ended up doing 17,500 steps, which put me in 3rd place in my group.     

 

Thursday 7-25-24 Relaxing Day, Crafting, Games & Puzzle

 

Relaxing Day

We had a relaxing day.

On Thursday we have no virtual square dances so we just hang around the house. Larry continued working on his paper crafting. He decided to start making Christmas cards. Today he made four. He decided on some tree cards. He downloaded and resized he card. Then he went through his paper and decided what colors to use. Then he cut the pieces using his Cameo. Afterwards he assembled the cards via a video made by Leo. After making the cards he made the envelopes to go with them. Each card was different even though they were made by the same design. The cards came out fantastic and very beautiful.

I did the Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong before I went to bed. In the morning I did the event, which was Event: Two Game Tango of 10 games (5 Spider and 5 Free Cell). It took me 1 hour, 50 minutes and 48 seconds, which put me in 15th place in my group. Then I moved onto playing Angry Birds.

In the afternoon I worked out with the Synth Riders for an hour. After cooling off I played five games of pinball. I played the weekly challenge of Judge Dredd and got a new high score, of 217,640,840. This score got me to 30th place out of 45 participants. The other four games were Twilight Zone, Queen, Theatre of Magic and The Addams Family. While playing Twilight Zone I entered my initials as #3 high score. I had a great time playing pinball.

In the evening we watched Milk on Amazon. It was a movie about Harvey Milk, he was a gay activist and was the first gay person to be elected to a California political office. Harvey Milk was played by Sean Penn. It was a very good documentary movie. Then I watched Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. I ended up doing 18,000 steps, which put me in 4th place in my group.
