Tuesday 5-30-23 Wellness Appointment & Games

Doctor appointment

We had a beautiful day with a lot of sunshine and a high of 86 degrees.

We started the day out by going Salado for my annual wellness appointment. Last week I had my lab work done and the doctor had the results. My cholesterol was high but the doctor wasn't concerned because everything else was good and my blood pressure was normal. I got a clear bill of health for another year.

On the way home we stopped at Whataburger for lunch. We split a buffalo ranch chicken strip sandwich and a medium french fry. It was huge, thank goodness Larry and I shared. It was good.

Afterwards we stopped by the UPS store and picked up our mail.

I played my Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong. The event today was Event: East Street Mini of 5 games. It took me 11 minutes and 11 seconds. which put me in 18th place in my group. I did a couple of games of Sudoku. I played Angry Birds.

I played the weekly challenge of Black Knight and got a new high score of 387,570. I also played Godzilla, Creature From the Black Lagoon and Batman on the pinball machine.

Then I moved over to the arcade machine and played three pinball games ( Batman, Spiderman and Star Wars) and three games of slots (Lotty Time, Luxor and Monte Carlo or Bust Club).

In the evening we watched a movie on Amazon called Three Thousand Years of Longing. It was a good movie starring Tilda Swinton and Idris Elba. It was about a scholar who discovers a Djinn and falls in love with him. Then I watched Sherlock Holmes. I ended up doing 17,500 steps, which put me in 6th place in my group.

Monday 5-29-23 Dancing, Truck Wash & Playing Games

Have a happy day

We started the day off by attending Di Green and Terry McCann's Weekly C1 dance at 9:00 for an hour. Di called five tips to 18 participants. Di walked us through moves we were having problems with. She cued the whole dance and danced with Terry, which helped a lot. Larry and I had a super time.

After the dance we went to town. Our truck was filthy and needed a bath. We stopped by Today's Car Wash and gave it a bath. The nice thing about Today's Car Wash is they supply you with towels to wipe down your vehicle. It took us about fifteen minutes to wipe down and vacuum the truck. It was busy but they moved us through quickly.

After giving the truck a bath Larry took me to Arby's for lunch. We received some coupons in the mail. We decided to use the coupon for two Gyros (roast beef or Greek). We got the roast beef ones and they were delicious. They had a lot of roast beef in them. On the side we shared an order of curly fries.

I played a few games of Sudoku. I did the Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong. I finished the event yesterday so I didn't have any games to do today. I ended up coming in 6th place in my group. Then I played Angry Birds 2 and Angry Birds and Friends.

I played the weekly challenge Black Knight and got a new high score of 240,400.

 New high score

Then I played six pinball games on the pinball cabinet. Next I moved onto the arcade cabinet and played three slots (Mario Kart, Majestic Bells and Luxor), three arcade (Rally X, Rainbow Islands and Q-Bert) and one poker, Red Hot Poker. Rally X is a car racing game, where you have to avoid the red cars and rocks and get the flags. Rainbow Islands is to stay alive by jumping over the caterpillars. Q-Bert object is to clear the screen without getting killed.

Larry organized some things in his workroom. He has been staying busy and hadn't played pinball in a few days. He played a number of games and then he decided to play Mustang. By accident he pushed two players so I played against him. It was a lot of fun. Of course it was more fun for me because on my last ball I passed by his score and beat him😀.

Playing Mustang

In the evening we watched a movie on Freevee called Land. It was about a lady who decided to escape from her problems and live off grid in Wyoming. It was very slow but I liked it. Afterwards we watched an episode of Poirot. When Larry went to bed I watched Armageddon from our movies selection. I ended up doing 15,000 steps, which put me in 3rd place in my group.

Sunday 5-28-23 Playing Games & Having Fun

Smile and be happy

We had a super day.

I did some Sudoku games. I did the Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong. Today's event was Event: Solitaire Celebrates of 30 games. We have two days to complete the games. It took me 4 hours, 16 minutes and 25 seconds, which put me in 4th place in my group so far.

Solitaire Challenge for two days

I started my new weekly pinball challenge, which is Black Knight. Larry downloaded and installed it. Games are available from the 1960's all the way thru today. We have a few of the games from the 60's and 70's and while some of them are interesting due to the music or the person they were themed for to me they are not as much fun to play as the more modern games. This weeks game is from 1980 and will not be one of my favorites.

Anyone who is a member of the challenge group can nominate a game, the game is then added to a list and each week the games in the list are voted on. Some folks prefer the older games and some prefer the newer ones.

After I finished the Solitaire event I played the Black Knight. I ended up doing a high score of 117,750.

 Black Knight

In the evening we finished watching the first season of Beyond Paradise. Afterwards we watched an episode of Poirot. When Larry went to bed I watched Top Gun and Top Gun: Maverick. I ended up doing 20,000 steps, which put me in 6th place in my group. I'm back in the 175,000 steps weekly challenge.

Saturday 5-27-23 Cleaning Garage, Games & Puzzle

Just having fun

The day was hot and humid. There was only a 4% chance of rain but at 3:30 it started to sprinkle. It didn't last long.

We spent part of the day working in the garage. I cleaned the window sills, windows and blinds. They were filthy.

I played my games. I did the Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong. The event today was Two Game Tango Mini of 6 games (3 Klondike and 3 Tri Peaks). It took me 11 minutes and 34 seconds, which put me in 12th place in my group. Then I moved onto playing Angry Birds 2 and Angry Birds and Friends.

I played Medieval Madness on the pinball cabinet. On the arcade cabinet I played two poker games (Poker King and Big Poker) and three pinball games (Junk Yard, Iron Man and Cactus Canyon).

I worked on my jigsaw puzzle.

In the evening we watched two episodes of Beyond Paradise. Afterwards we watched an episode of Poirot. When Larry went to bed I watched The X Files and The X Files: I Want to Believe from our movie collection. I ended up doing 20,000 steps.

New shoes

I attended Ett McAtee's Weekly A2 dance at 6:30 for an hour and fifteen minutes. She called five tips to 15 participants. We just danced and had a great time.

After the dance we started to watch a new series on Acorn called Beyond Paradise. It is a spin off from Death In Paradise. DI Humphrey Goodman went back to the UK and started a new life. It's still a detective series and is very good. After Larry went to bed I watched two of our movies, Night at the Museum and Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian. They were both old movies but are still good and funny. I ended up doing 20,000 steps.

Wednesday 5-24-23 Dance Day & More

Dancing Day

I attended four virtual square dances. First was Di Green and Terry McCann's Weekly Plus at 10:00 for an hour. They called five tips but I only did four. They took turns calling the dance to 17 participants. Di worked on four couple moves: Relay the Deucey, Coordinate, Track Two and Spin Chain the Gear. I had a super time dancing with friends.

Second was Dayle Hodge's Weekly A1/A2 at 11:00 for an hour. He called two tips of A1, two tips of A2 and one tip of four couple A2 to 12 participants. I danced by myself. Dayle put us in positions that were challenging and fun. He cued when necessary. I had a great time dancing to Dayle and with friends.

Third was Ett McAtee's Weekly C1 at 1:00 for an hour and fifteen minutes. She called five tips to 25 participants. She has her sequences written down so if they are requested to do over she can call it the same way. Ett spent the dancing working on Linear Action, Pass the Axle and the Axle. I had a fun time dancing to Ett and with friends.

Fourth was Dave Eno, Karin Rabe and Greg Moore's Weekly C1/A2 at 6:30 for two hours. This week Dave Hutchinson came back to help call the dance for the summer. The format was two tips of C1 with 9 participants, five tips of A2 with 11 participants and one tip of C1 with 8 participants. The two Daves called the first C1 tip and Karin and Greg called the second tip. The first A2 tip was called by Dave Hutchinson. The second and fourth A2 tips were called by Karin and Greg. The third A2 tip was called by Dave Eno. The fourth A2 tip was called by the two Daves. The last C1 tip was called by the two Daves. In between the A2 tips we did some trivia. I had a super evening of dancing with friends.

I played my Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong. The event today was Event: Two Game Tango Mini of 6 games (3 Spider and 3 Free Cell). It took me 15 minutes and 8 seconds, which put me in 20th place in my group. Then I moved onto playing Angry Birds.

I played four games of pinball on the pinball cabinet: Medieval Madness, Mustang, Fast Break and Shrek. I hadn't played three of them in a long time so it was fun to see how well I did. I didn't get any new high scores but did very well.

When Larry needs to get under a vehicle he uses a creeper. He has had a wooden creeper for years, he has had it so long he can't remember where he bought it or when but it is more than 30 years old, maybe even 40. Well he was using it today and it broke. The wooden piece that you lay on cracked and buckled. He probably could have fixed it but he really wanted a new one with an adjustable headrest. After Ett's dance we went to Harbor Freight and bought one. It is much nicer than the old wooden one, it is made a lot better, it's padded, has an adjustable head rest and six nice wheels. The creeper is more stable and doesn't flip up when he gets off it. If it last as long as the last one it will certainly out last him.

After Dave's dance we watched an episode of Poirot. Then I finished watching the seventh season of Endeavor and started the eighth season. I ended up doing 15,000 steps.

Tuesday 5-23-23 Errands, Lab, Games & Puzzle

Busy having fun

We started the day going to town. I had a lab appointment at 7:40 so I had to get up early. My doctor made the appointment so he could go over the results when I have my wellness appointment next week. On the way home we stopped by Walmart to buy breakfast. Then we stopped at the UPS Store to pick up our mail.

I attended Di Green and Terry McCann's Weekly A2 dance at 10:00 for an hour. Di and Terry took turns calling five tips to 18 participants. Barry and Cindy had attended a DVD dance last weekend in Washington and had problems doing a few moves. Di decided she would workshop the moves, which were Coordinate, Spin Chain The Gear and Ace Deucey. As she called the move she cued us through them. They were plus moves but we had a great time dancing the moves. Di and Terry did a super job of calling the dance. I had fun dancing with friends.

After lunch we went back to town to get a couple of items for a project Larry has been working on. While we were out we put gas in the truck, the last time we filled it up was in November. Obviously it does not get driven much.

I did the Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong. The event today was Event: Two Game Tango Mini of 6 games (3 Klondike and 3 Spider). It took me 17 minutes and 11 seconds, which put me in 22nd place in my group. Then I moved onto playing Angry Birds.

I played pinball on both the pinball cabinet and the arcade cabinet. On the pinball cabinet I played Medieval Madness, Monster Bash, The Munsters, Batman and Tales of the Arabian Nights. Medieval Madness is the weekly challenge I didn't get a new high score. On the arcade cabinet I played Diner, Doll Parton and The Rolling Stones.

Then I assembled more of the jigsaw puzzle I started a couple days ago, York 1500.

It starred Lucas Jaye, Hong Chau and Brian Dennehy. Then we watched an episode of Poirot. Then I started the seventh season of Endeavor. I ended up doing 12,000 steps.
