Monday 2-27-23 Dancing, New Food & Having Fun

Beautiful Day

We had a beautiful day with a lot of sunshine. It got up to 76 degrees with wind out of the west.

We started the day out by attending Di Green and Terry McCann's Weekly C1 dance at 9:00 for an hour and fifteen minutes. Di called 5 tips to 15 participants. Larry danced with me. During the dance she worked on the move Counter Rotate. She put us in different positions. Some of them were very challenging but she cued us through the move. Terry and Di danced along with us so we could follow them to the right place. We had an outstanding time dancing with friends.

After the dance we went to town to take the Minnie for a ride. We hadn't driven the Minnie since our camping trip last month. Before going for a ride Larry started the generator, he was surprised how easily it started. Both the generator and Minnie ran great. We went for a ride and then put the Minnie back in storage.

On the way home from the storage center we stopped by Arby's to try their Gyro sandwich. We had a choice of roast beef or Greek meat. We had the Greek Gyro and it was delicious. We hadn't been to an Arby's in years.

Arby's Greek Gyro

When we got home I took a couple of hour nap.

Larry purchased a new program for the computer, he spent the afternoon learning and configuring it to work the way he wanted. He is quite happy with it.

I did the Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong. I did the event, which was Event: The Hard Road of 16 games. It took me 1 hour, 31 minutes and 37 seconds, which put me in 3rd place in my group. I did some Angry Birds 2 and Angry Birds and Friends.

I played pinball games and arcade games. While playing the weekly challenge IT Pinball Madness I got a new high score of 14,719,850. When I play the arcade games have to ask Larry which buttons to use. I think after playing for a bit I'll remember which buttons to use.

New high score

In the evening we watched the fourth episode of Vera and the second episode of The Frankenstein Chronicles. After Larry went to bed I watched The Jungle Book 2 on Disney. It was very cute. Then I watched an episode of McDonald & Dodds on Acorn. I ended up doing 28,000 steps, which put me in 4th place in my group.

Sunday 2-26-23 Neighbor Mowing, Project & Having Fun

Hold on tight

The day started out with fog. The sun came out and it got to 76 degrees. There was a strong wind out of the south so it was warm.

Larry spent the day working on his arcade cabinet. He was very successful. He has gotten further on the button lighting program and decided he was ready to finalize the button quantity and positions. It took him all day to customize a new button board, move the buttons to the new board and rewire everything. Afterwards he put the machine back in the dining room and continued working on the games. Later on I asked him to show me how to play some of the arcade games. I played a couple of games. I have a ways to go to play them better.

He says he still has a long way to go to get the button lighting correct for every game but he is on his way.

Currently the machine has 120 arcade games, 60 fruit games, 5 poker games and 3 pinball games. After finishing the lighting he plans to add a few more arcade and pinball games.

 Playing arcade games

I played the Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong and the event. The Event was Event: Pyramid Mini of 10 games. It took me 51 minutes and 24 seconds, which put me in 26th place in my group. Then I played some Angry Birds.

After playing the event I went and took a nap for a couple of hours. While I was taking the nap and Larry was working on his project our neighbor Jason mowed our frontyard. He had texted Larry yesterday and asked if he could because he was mowing his yards. That was very nice of him.

I played the new weekly challenge of pinball, which is IT Pinball Madness. It's a Halloween horror game based on the IT novel written by Stephen King. It's about saving nine kids. I played a few times and got a high score of 12,185,930. Then I played some more games.

First high score of It Pinball Madness challenge

In the evening we watched Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. This was our first time watching it and it was very good. Then I watched the 1967 animation movie The Jungle Book on Disney. Afterwards I started the second season of  McDonald & Dodds on Acorn. I ended up doing 27,000 steps, which put me in 2nd place in my group for the week with the total of 193,203 steps.

Saturday 2-25-23 Darren Gallina Dance

Have a great day

We had another cool day with the high of 52 degrees.

I thought I didn't have a dance today until Larry mentioned that Darren was having a dance. What a pleasant surprise. I attended the dance at 1:00 for about an hour. It was a mainstream/plus dance with 12 participants. Darren danced with his partner Thom, they had two cameras (one was setup with their backs to the dancers and the other one they were facing the dancers). Darren called one mainstream tip and two plus tips. In between the tips we did a little trivia. Darren did a singing call after each pattern song for each tip. I pinned the back camera so I could follow Thom. I had a super time.

I played the Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong and the event. Today the event was Event: Spider Adventure of 20 games. It took me 4 hours, 24 minutes and 2 seconds, which put me in 15th place in my group. Then I moved onto playing Angry Birds 2 and Angry Birds and Friends. I played a little pinball but didn't get a new high score in Theater of Magic.

While I played games and danced Larry continued working with the developer on getting the buttons to light correctly on the arcade games.

In the evening we watched the Guardians of the Galaxy. Afterwards we started a series on Acorn called The Frankenstein Chronicles. It takes place in1818. It is a detective series starring Sean Bean as Inspector John Marlott. So far it's a good series but a little weird. When Larry went to bed I watched Aladdin on Disney. It was made in 2019 starring Will Smith. Will Smith has a great singing voice. Then I continued to watch McDonald & Dodds. I ended up doing 28,000 steps, which put me in 2nd place in my group

Friday 2-24-23 No Dance & Just Having Fun

It's Friday celebrate with a dance

It was chilly outside with the high being 50 degrees with a wind out of north. We had a laid back day. I usually dance in the evening on Friday but Ett was out of town so I didn't have a dance.

I woke up at 8:30 and breakfast was waiting for me, pancakes made by Larry. I slept the rest of the morning away. Larry even made soup for lunch. After lunch I stayed awake for the rest of the day.

Larry kept busy working on his project. He has custom button lighting working on fruit games but he is struggling getting them to light correctly for arcade games, they use a different program and after working on it for hours he finally gave up and emailed the developer of the program. They have traded a few notes back and forth and got it partially working but something still eludes them. Larry finally gave up for the night and will work on it again tomorrow.

I did the Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong. Today's event was Event: Easy Street Mini of 15 games. It took me 28 minutes and 53 seconds, which put me in 10th place in my group. I played some Angry Birds. I did a couple of games of Sudoku. I played some pinball. While playing Theater of Magic I got a new high score to post on the challenge. It was 343,791,210.

New high score

In the evening we watched Captain America: Winter Soldier. Then I watched the 1942 movie Bambi and the 2006 movie Bambi II on Disney. They were both cute animated movies. Bambi II was about how he was raised by his father after his mother was killed. Afterwards I started a detective series on Acorn called McDonald & Dodds. I ended up doing 28,000 steps, which put me in 2nd place in my group with 138,170 for the week so far.

Thursday 2-23-23 Dayle Hodge's Dance & Playing Games

Happy Thursday

We had another beautiful day with the high of 70 degrees.

We attended Dayle Hodge's C1 dance at 11:00 for an hour. He called four two couple tips to 15 participants and one four couple tip to 13 participants. He is an outstanding caller and makes the dance very challenging by putting us in positions we're not used to being put in. When we're not in the right place he fixes us. We had a super time dancing to Dayle and with friends.

I did the Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong. The event today was Two Games Tango Mini of 10 games (5 Klondike and 5 Free Cell). It took me 1 hour, 5 minutes and 13 seconds to complete, which put me in 22nd in my group. I played Angry Birds.

I played some pinball games. On Theater of Magic I got a new high score of 342,801,660. I'm glad I signed up for the weekly challenge games because I get a chance to play different games.

New high score of 342,801,660

While I played games Larry continued working on his project. He installed the light controller he received from England. He has started programing the buttons so they flash or light up when they are needed for the game. He has it working for fruit games (slot machines), arcade games and pinball. Using the joystick you scroll through the menus and then push a button to select which of the three categories you want to play, then you are taken to a menu of the games for that category where once again using the joystick you can now scroll through each game. Everything works but nothing is completed. The machine is an ongoing project and it looks outstanding. Larry is having a great time doing this project.

We watched YouTube videos.

It starred Dick Van Dyke and Julie Andrews. I enjoyed it as much as I did years ago. Then I watched the last episode of the Rockford Files. I ended up doing 27,000 steps, which put me in 2nd place in my group.

I only did four of the games. I played it for 2 hours, 12 minutes and 58 seconds before giving up. I played some pinball games. I also played Angry Birds.

After Dayle's dance Larry took me out to lunch. Larry received an e-mail from the UPS Store indicating he had a package waiting for him. He has been waiting for a part from the UK for more than a month. The day after he ordered the part the UK Royal Mail service's international shipping was hacked and they could not ship anything internationally. It has taken them weeks to recover but Larry's part arrived today. Before going to lunch we stopped by the UPS Store and picked up the package and the rest of our mail. Then we walked over to Taco Bell and had lunch.

While I danced Larry continued working on his arcade machine project.

After Dave's dance we watched an episode of Death in Paradise. Then I watched Peter Pan in Return to Neverland. Afterwards I watched Rockford Files. I ended up doing 28,000 steps, which put me in 2nd place in my group.

Smile and be happy

We had a great day. The weather was warmer. The morning temperature was 47 degrees and the high was 70 degrees.

I slept in until 8:30 am. Larry had breakfast waiting, it was pancakes. Larry spoils me by making breakfast everyday. After breakfast I went back to bed for a couple of hours because I couldn't keep my eyes open.

Larry kept busy working on his arcade game project. He's having fun figuring things out to make the games work. While doing this he learns a lot.

Participants in the dance

Loren's background to celebrate the Super Bowl

When I was younger I loved watching football in person and on television. But as the years went on I lost interest. When we first moved to Texas we would go to Dallas and watch the Cowboys play on Thanksgiving day. Once in awhile Larry would like to watch Thursday night football but I get upset so we watch something else.

After Loren's dance we watched an episode of the 12th season of Death In Paradise. Then I watched Escape From Witch Mountain on Disney. It was a 1975 movie. It was a cute movie about two kids, who make magical powers and wanted to find their people. Then I watched a couple of episodes of Rockford Files. I ended up doing 27,000 steps, which put me in 4th place in my group for the week of 193,230 steps.
