Tuesday 12-6 Drought in Texas

Lake Belton

We had an overcast day with a little wind but the temperature was very mild in the low 70s.

We attended one virtual dance, Di Green and Terry McCann's Weekly A2 at 10:00 for an hour. Di and Terry took turns calling five tips with 15 participants. When Di called she did four couple calls. We had a super time dancing to Di and Terry and with friends.

After lunch Larry made a couple of phone calls. First was to Good Sam Roadside Assistance because we hadn't received our renewal cards in the mail. The lady who helped him said they no longer mail out cards unless they are requested, they expect you to print them out from their website. Then he called our dental plan to have them remove auto renewal. Both calls went very smoothly and the customer service representatives did a super job.

Every year after we get back from our Fall Trip we put the boat in the lake to run it or winterize it. Since we got back we have been meaning to do this but we got busy doing this and that. Today the weather was nice so after lunch we decided to put the boat in the lake.

We are in a drought. Some places in Texas have had a lot of rain but others didn't. We have been in Central Texas for about 35 years and have enjoyed boating on the surrounding lakes. We have seen Lake Travis in the Austin area get very low but we have never seen Lake Belton as low as we did today. We launch our boat at Rogers Park ramp, a few times when the lake is down we have seen a few trees in the cove but today we saw land and tires where the dock usually is. The trees in the cove and down the lake were very visible.

Larry looked at the lake and decided it was too low and too many trees were visible. He decided to keep the boat on the trailer and start it up. We backed the boat into the lake and put the trailer deep enough to start the boat up. We ran it a little while. While the boat ran a fisherman backed his trailer down to put his boat on it. He did it perfectly. Larry commented on it and he said he had done this for many years. Once the boat was warmed up Larry turned it off. We pulled it up the ramp and wiped it down. It didn't take too long because it wasn't too wet. I hope we get some rain before the summer.

I played my games. I did the Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong. The event today was Event: Free Cell Mini of 5 games. It took me 12 minutes and 11 seconds, which put me in 22nd place in my group. I did some Sudoku games and played Angry Birds.

In the evening we started watching the 10th season of Death In Paradise. Then I finished the 1st season of Without Motive on Brit Box. I ended up doing 28,000 steps, which put me in 3rd place in my group.
