Monday 12-7 Camping at Lake Waco Midway Park

 Let's go camping

Today was a beautiful cool day with bright sunshine. Simply lovely.

We headed out on our camping trip about 12:30. Midway Park on Lake Waco is only about 44 miles from the house.

 Camping at Midway Park

Lake Waco is run by the U.S. Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District. It's a small lake. There are four parks and eight boat ramps. Midway is one of the four parks on Lake Waco. It's a has 33 RV sites with power and water. Ten of the sites have sewer, five of the full hookup sites has 50 amps. There are five tent sites. The park has one restroom with showers, a playground (closed due to Covid-19) and a boat ramp. Each site has a paved pad for your RV, a picnic table, fire ring, grill and a lot of trees. There are hiking trails so near that you can see them but unfortunately they are on the other side of the cove and there is no way to get to them without driving a couple of miles. The park is very nice and the sites are roomy.

After setting up the Minnie we walked around the campground. We did a little exploring hoping that maybe we could get to the hiking trail on foot. We climbed through trees and came across a trail, that looked like a hiking trail so we followed it. Along the way we saw some religious trail signage. We followed the signs and found a place for people to sit and reflect on their feelings. A little later we came to where an old road ended at a cove of Lake Waco. On the other side was the hiking trails but you couldn't cross the creek. We turned around and headed the other direction and came across St. Francis Church, where the trails began. The trails were called St. Francis Prayer Trails. There was a giant oak tree and a statue of St. Francis under it. It was a beautiful well maintained area. We turned around and went back to the campground. We walked around for 40 minutes.

We spent the rest of day reading and relaxing. I also did my Solitaire games. The Daily Challenges and Event: Hard Road Mini of 10 games. It took me 1 hour, 25 minutes and 12 seconds to complete, which put me in 14th place in my group.

For dinner we had tacos. After dinner I walked around the campground for 45 minutes to get some of my steps in. I ended up doing 27,500 steps, which put me in 3rd place in my group.
