Thursday 5-13 Dancing and Baklava

We had another cool day with a cloud covering, the high was 75 degrees.

I started the day out by doing the Daily Challenges and the Event: World Tour Mini of 10 games. It took me 1 hour, 26 minutes and 39 seconds, which put me in 30th place. I also did a couple of Solitaire Dark Pyramid games.

Larry finished another paper project.

We attended three virtual square dances. First was Dayle Hodge's Weekly C1 at 11:00. Dayle was having problems with his sound system so he didn't have a microphone and he sounded like his was in a cave. He wasn't able to correct the problem but he was still able to call the dance. He called four two couples tips with 26 participants. He didn't do the four couples tip because he wanted to fix his sound issue for his DBD dance at 1:00. Dayle called a fast dance and we had a fun time.

Second was Joachim Ruehenbeck's Bi-Monthly C1 at 12:30. He called five tips of two couples with 19 participants. He did a lot of left handed formations. It's amazing, when we first started dancing to Joachim we would breakdown a lot and we thought he was very hard. Now that we have been dancing two couple via Zoom for almost a year we have gotten so much better that we seldom breakdown, wish I could say the same about four couple dancing. We had a very enjoyable dance.

Third was Jeremy Butler's Weekly A2/C1 at 6:00. Jeremy called four A2 tips and one C1 tip.

Larry found a recipe for us to try making Baklava, which is a layered pastry dessert. After Joachim's dance we went to town to buy a couple ingredients we didn't have. One item was Phyllo dough, which was sold at HEB. It has been about a year since I have been in HEB so it was a little exciting. We noticed that there were more people not wearing a mask compared to Walmart, which was a surprise. After buying what we needed we went home.

Shopping at HEB

After the last dance I mowed the front and back yards. Larry weedeated and blew off the driveway. A couple of days ago Larry saw that a couple of birds were roosting on our security camera stand on the front porch so after he weedeated he cleaned their dropping off the porch. He also walked around and treated for weeds.

Next we made Baklava. It took us the rest of the evening. We used pistachios instead of walnuts, first we had to shell them and then I cut them up in little pieces. Larry layered the phyllo dough in the pan and had to butter each of the 40 layers. The layers were very thin and hard to get apart. By the time we finished it was almost midnight. It took an hour and fifteen minutes to bake. That's ok because I don't go to bed until 2:00. I ended up doing 13,600 steps, which put me in 7th place with 93,800 steps so far this week. I missed my daily goal by 12,000 steps.

After Larry went to bed I watched a couple of episodes of Star Trek: Voyager.
