6-15 Sundancers Dance

Sundancers Dance
It's been muggy all day, we spent most of the day chilling out in the house. We went to town and did some grocery shopping. In the evening we meet our friends Jan and Skip at Best Buy in Temple so we could all go to Sun City to square dance with the Sundancers. This was the first time that Jan and Skip have gone to Sun City to dance, they were very excited. The dance started out with seven squares for mainstream and five for plus.

6-14 Homemade Ice Cream Dance

Today Larry and I went to Allemande Hall in Waco to square dance with the TIPS club, it was their Homemade Ice Cream Dance. There were enough people for two squares and the club provided homemade ice cream as a treat, the flavors were strawberry, chocolate and vanilla. The ice cream was delicious, we also had brownies, angel food cake, oatmeal cookies, peanuts and strawberries. Everyone had a marvelous time dancing to Dale Smith and visiting with each other.

In the evening we watched three episodes of Last Tango in Halifax second season on the PBS channel on the ROKU. Over the past couple of weeks we have been streaming movies (Captain America, Thor and Hulk) and we watched the  three Iron Man DVDs that we own.

6-13 Back to the 50s Dance

Boat Platform
Larry has been busy all day with little jobs around the house. He treated for weeds that he missed the last time he treated, climbed onto the roof to install gutter strainers, worked on a couple of sprinkler heads and oiled the platform of the boat. The gutter strainers are a stainless steel spring that catches leaves and helps preventing the gutters from clogging up, one of the springs were too big so he had to cut it down to fit in the gutter. He put four coats of Teak oil on the platform, this took awhile because he had to wait an hour or two between coats. While Larry was doing his little chores I worked on my jig saw puzzle and baked dessert to take with us to Denim and Lace dance while Flo sunned and slept.

6-11 First Day of Boating

Square Dancing with the Coryell County Squares Club
Wow I can't believe we finally put the boat in the water this morning usually we're boating in May. Larry and I spend most of the summer on the lake water skiing, wake boarding, air chairing, wake surfing and floating. We launched the boat on Stillhouse Hollow Lake about 9:00 and flew the Air Chair. Stillhouse is a small lake and has a lot of trees in it so we are limited to a small area to do our water sports. There was a breeze which made the lake rough and a smaller area to use. We were on the lake about an hour and had fun. The boat ramp was very good with four lanes to use to launch boats and the dock was useable to pick up and drop off people. The wind was blowing just hard enough that it was challenging getting to the dock and putting the boat on the trailer. I had trouble getting to the dock to drop Larry off so he showed me what to do. Once he explained what to do I put the boat on the trailer without a problem. When we got home Flo was waiting for us in Larry's workroom. She was one happy dog.

6-10 Jig Saw Puzzles

Vintage Number Puzzle by Mega Puzzles

I finished my Vintage Number puzzle late last night, it took me almost two weeks to complete it. The puzzle was a lot more challenging than I expected but it was fun. Now it's time for a new puzzle adventure. I haven't taken Flo for a walk in weeks so before lunch I took her to the lake. We didn't need to walk as far as normal, because of the high water level the parking lot was under water. The road between Temple Lake Park and the boat ramp is also under water. Flo swam with a family of five and had a great time. By the time we got home we were gone for an hour and Flo was exhausted.

Since all of the boat ramps on Lake Belton are closed Larry and I drove over to Stillhouse Hollow Lake to check their ramps. We decided it was a perfect spot to launch the boat. While there Larry tried to buy a year pass to use the Corp of Engineers parks but their system was down so he got a pass at Live Oak Ridge Park on Belton. Now we're all set for going boating this summer. When we were in town we stopped by Walmart and picked up a couple more puzzle. We got two 1000 pieces puzzles by Ceaco, they are color pencils and cactus. When we got home Larry got the sprinkler system started and I decided to start the cactus puzzle.

In the evening we went square dancing with the Shirts 'n' Skirts club in Georgetown. This week they had five squares and we had a super time.

6-9 Getting Ready for Boating

Our truck and boat

It's summertime and now it's time to get the boat ready so we can go boating. The recent rain has filled up or over filled most of the lakes in Texas, all the ramps on Lake Belton are closed due to the rain and the construction they're doing on the dam. They're suppose to be finished with the construction on June 10th and then they will start to release the water. We won't be able to use Lake Belton for awhile but if we want to we can use Stillhouse Hollow Lake, which is a few miles south of Lake Belton. So today we decided to get the boat ready for summer. Larry dewinterized it by starting it up and then Larry and I cleaned in interior including the rug. While we were doing this Flo kept us company and when she got hot she went inside to cool off. It took us all morning and now the boat is ready for our fun time on the lake.

6-8 Making Homemade Ice Cream

Making Ice Cream
Larry and I are still recuperating from our three days of square dancing so today we took things easy. In the morning we put the Minnie back in storage and did a few errands. Larry worked on putting a couple small hinges on fans that are from the Minnie. He was a little disappointed on how they fit but I know he'll figure something out and make them work. While he did this I worked on my jig saw puzzle and later worked out on the WII. Flo went outside to sun, when she got hot she came inside and slept. The other day Larry asked if we could make ice cream, when we were in town we picked up what I needed. Tonight I got the ice cream maker out, poured Junket Ice Cream mix into the medal container and added a cup of half and half and a cup of heavy whipping cream per box of Junket. After the mix was chilled for about 30 minutes I put the container in the machine and added a cup of cold water in the machine. I plugged in the machine and as the machine was running I added a layer of ice with a half of cup of rock salt on top of the ice and repeated the ice and salt until it was to the top of the maker. I put a cup of cold water on top the the ice. Then we waited for the ice cream to finish being made, took about 35 minutes. When the machine turned off I put the ice cream in a container and then into the freezer. Ended up making two batches, one vanilla and one chocolate. I like the chocolate while Larry prefers vanilla. While the ice cream was freezing we rented a DVD (Thor) on amazon. After the movie we had a little ice cream.
