Sunday 11-28 Buescher State Park

Camping at Buescher State Park

The temperatures are finally dropping into the high 60s and low 70s during the day and in the 30s and 40s at night. We're so excited because it's time to go camping.

We started the day out by finishing getting the Minnie ready.

After lunch we were on the road going to Buescher State Park. It was 92 miles from the house and took two and a half hours to get there. We took the back roads, which were two and four lane highways. We drove through small towns and cities. Before leaving Temple we stopped and filled the Minnie. The drive was very nice and not a lot of traffic until we hit bigger cities such as Taylor, Elgin and Bastrop.

We arrived at Buescher State Park around 2:00. Larry said the lady checking us in was very friendly and helpful. The lake is closed due to the dam being worked on. Because of the construction there may be some noise. We found our spot and setup the Minnie for a few nights. The site wasn't level so Larry had to get the blocks out to level the Minnie.

A little while later we went on a half hour walk around the park. We took a .12 mile trail called the CCC Crossover to the cabins, screened shelters, playground and CCC Recreation building. We walked through trees and over a bridge that was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. After using the bridge we walked a short path using some stairs built by the CCC to the CCC Recreation building. The CCC Recreation building was very nice. While walking by the playground we saw a group of kids playing and their parents watching them play. After walking around looking at the cabins and shelters we returned to the Minnie.

For dinner I barbecued hamburgers. Later on I baked Toll House Peppermint Coco Cookies.

Cozy Circle is a small loop campground. Each site has a lot of growth, a fire pit, picnic table and power and water. There was a bathroom with running water and showers.

I did the Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong and the Event: Pyramid Mini of 10 games. It took me 38 minutes and 41 seconds, which put me in 25th place in my group. I did some Sudoku games. I did 26,000 steps, which put me in 3rd place in my group with 190,031 for the week.
