Monday 1-4 Camping and Hiking at McCown Valley Park

Hi from all of us

We had a gorgeous day with sunshine. It started out cold with the temperature in the low 40's but when the sun came out it warmed up to the low 60's.

When I go to bed at night I set the thermostat on our small electric heater to 66 because we like to sleep when it's colder. We have each other and plenty of blankets to keep us warm. When I crawled out of bed Larry was bundled up under my old unicorn blanket, it's probably 40 years old. He had put the small heater on high to help warm things up but he didn't turn up the temperature. When the temperatures are in the low 40's or below one little heater on low can't really keep up. Sometimes we get out the second heater or we turn the one to high. Once I was up he adjusted the temperature because he knows I don't really like like the cold. I made biscuits for our breakfast so the oven helped the heater get up to temperature.

After breakfast we got ready for a hike. I put a couple of bottles of water and a couple of granola bars in my pack that I wear around my waist. We both wore a jacket and I wore gloves. We hiked 2.5 miles of the McCown Valley Equestrian Trail and turned around and hiked back. The part of the trail we hiked was out in the open so we took off our jackets and I took off the gloves because we got warm. The terrain was flat and easy but there was a lot of sand which made it challenging. The reviews of trail said it had sand and gave the horses a workout so we weren't surprised. The horses hoof prints were deep so it was hard to walk. The trail isn't marked well but Larry had downloaded the map to his phone. He is very good at reading maps and I'm not. He kind of knew where to go. When we got back to the Minnie we were tired. We hadn't hiked in a long time and we had hiked 5 miles. We had a great hike.

After resting I made a salad, it was easy to put together and we like salads. After lunch I did my Daily Challenges and the Event: World Tour Mini of 10 games. It took me 56 minutes and 15 seconds. Then I played some Mahjong games. While I did this Larry was sitting outside in the sun reading on his Kindle.

In the evening we walked around the park for an hour, Larry walked with me for 40 minutes. We walked to the group camping area, shelters and boat ramp. When I walked by myself I walked to the day area and beach. Our walk was very peaceful.

I ended up doing 26,000 steps, which put me in first place in my group. We had a wonderful day at McCown Valley Park. LIFE IS GOOD!!!!
