Sunday 8-8 Beginnings of Preparing for Fall Trip

Hold on tight Pooh

We had a wind with a high of 95 degrees and humidity at 42%. We mostly stayed indoors keeping cool under the air conditioner. According to our local weatherman we haven't hit 100 degrees officially in Temple, Belton or Waco. We usually have 20+ days by now. I'm not complaining.

I woke up and it was windy so we decided to hang around the house. While doing this Larry chose his next paper project. I did the Daily Challenges and Event: Two Game Tango of 20 games (10 spider and 10 Tri Peeks). It took me 2 hours, 4 minutes and 41 seconds, which put me in 9th place in my group of 100 players. Then I did Mahjong Daily Challenges.

Just hanging around

We're going to head out on our Fall trip in a couple of weeks. During this trip we're planning on doing some boon-docking, which means no power. We only have one house battery to run our lights and take care of our electrical needs. Over the years we have done lots of camping without power and since we normally drive from place to place every couple of days we charge everything up via the motor home as we drive. This year we don't think we will move the motor home as often and with cell phones, tablets and computers we simply use more power than we use to. Yesterday, Larry ordered a portable solar panel and controller/charger. The controller arrived this morning so in the afternoon he experimented with it using a small solar panel he had lying around. The controller worked well but the temperature readout is in Celsius and he would prefer it to be in Fahrenheit, he has not been able to figure out how to change it, but that's ok. The solar panel will be in tomorrow.

While Larry played with solar power I continued to read Hannah on my Kindle.

In the evening we watched a documentary on Amazon called Rewilding Kernwood, it was about a couple who made a homestead in the middle of the wilderness in Alaska. They lived in the cabin on and off for over 25 years, raised a son there and they were getting older so they decided to take the homestead down and give it back to the wilderness. It was an interesting documentary to see how they built the structures, how they took them apart and letting go of things they loved. Then we watched Shark Bait on Amazon Kids, it was a cute animated movie about a male stopping a female fish from marrying a shark because he wanted her himself. Then I continued watching the eighth season of Silent Witness. I ended up doing 27,000 steps, which put me in 4th place in my group for the week with 184,196 steps.
