Saturday 5-24-25 Plus U, Car Show, Terp's Comics & More

Beautiful Day

We had a beautiful day with a lot of sunshine. The high was 96 degrees. There was a breeze, that kept it bearable.

Larry started the day working on his jukebox project. He took the jukebox apart and started preparing it for painting.

I played games. I did the Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong. The event was Event: Free Cell Adventure of 20 games. It took me 2 hours, 47 minutes and 37 seconds, which put me in 12th place in my group. Then I played Angry Birds.

At 10:30 we went town.

First stop was the TEF Car Show at the Temple High School. The show was from 10:00 to 2:00. There were a lot of beautiful vehicles: Classic, Modern Muscle, Low Riders, Imports, Trucks and Motorcycles. The car show took place in the parking lot of the high school. We walked around for about 45 minutes. They also had food vendors. It was starting to get hot. Below are some of the vehicles we saw.

Second was a comic book swap meet at Terp's Toys and Comics in Temple. It wasn't a big swap meet but it was worth going because it was the first time we've been at a comics store. The owner and a worker were very friendly and helpful. He had a lot of comic books and clocks made out of LP records. The owner's friend makes they for him using a lazer. They were very cool. He had a huge picture on the back wall with different characters from the comics in it. They was a little boy about three looking at it and the owner asked him to locate some characters on the wall. He located the ones he knew. The store was well organized.

After attending the events we stopped by the UPS Store to get our mail. Then we went to Walmart to pick up a few items we were getting low on and paint for the jukebox. While there we picked up a chicken for lunch. Larry was going to take me out for lunch but I thought it was easier just to get a chicken. Then we went home.

When we got home I continued playing my Solitaire Event. Larry went back on working the jukebox.

I played three games of pinball, which were Mustang, World Joker Poker and Guardians of the Galaxy. When playing Mustang and World Joker Poker I matched so I played them two times. The second game of both games was better than the first. While I played Guardians of the Galaxy I entered my initials as high score #2.

In the afternoon we received an e-mail from Paula Ferguson (Brad Caldwell's wife), reminding folks that tonight at 7:00 there was a Plus U dance in Georgetown.

We attended the dance. It was for two hours. Brad called eight tips to four squares of dancers plus one extra dancer. We had a super time dancing to Brad and with friends.

We got home a little before 10:00. Larry checked his e-mail and then went to bed. I watched a movie called R.I.P.D. It was a good movie. It reminded me of Men in Black. Afterwards I watched Star Trek Into Darkness. I ended up doing 13,000 steps.

Friday 5-23-25 Mowers, Games, Jukebox Project & More

Do the happy dance

We had a great day. We got up to 96 degrees with a lot of sunshine.

Larry spent the day working on his Rowe Jukebox. He finished painting the monitor bezel, wiring, LED lights and added lighting to marquee. It works great and looks super. He needs to make button covers and finalize the marquee, after that he will strip it totally down and start working on the case.

In the afternoon I played seven games of pinball. They were Creature From The Black Lagoon, Elvira Scared Stiff, Iron Man, Metallica, Nightmare Before Christmas, No Fear and Spiderman. While playing Nightmare Before Christmas I became high score #1. I didn't get a new high score playing Elvira Scared Still but I had fun.

I worked out with a half hour on the Wii Fit and a half hour with Just Dance (10 minutes with 2014 and 20 minutes with 2015).

I played two games of Monster Manor and earned a bronze trophy in both of them. The second game was the best. During the last game I stunned the manor, earned a skeleton key and had a great time.

While I was playing games and Larry was working on his jukebox our mowers came and mowed. They were in and out within fifteen minutes. The mowers were scheduled on every other Thursday. Two weeks ago they didn't show up when they were scheduled so Larry called the company and they said they were behind scheduled due to rain. So they came Friday. We really don't care when they come. We were glad that the mowers showed up today.

In the evening we watched Elementary. When Larry went to bed I watched You've Got Mail and Men in Black II. I did 13,500 steps.

Wednesday 5-21-25 Two Dances, Projects & Games

Awesome Day

We had an awesome day of doing this and that.

Larry spent the day working with movies and music. He hadn't used the program for downloading for a long time so it took some time to relearn. He downloaded music and movies at the same time. While he was doing this he experimented with the music on the yellow Rock Ola jukebox. He has a lot of fun doing these projects.

I had a great time dancing with friends and to Di and Terry.

Second was Dave Eno's Weekly C1/A2 at 6:00 for an hour and a half. Karin Rabe and Greg Moore helped call the dance. The format was three tips of C1 to 10 participants, three tips of A2 to 10 participants and two Trivia questions in between the A2 tips. I had a super evening dancing to Dave, Karin and Greg and with friends.

Tuesday 5-20-25 Morning Surprise, Dancing & More

Morning surprise

Larry gets up at 6:00 and reads his e-mails, news groups and groups his follows. We have security cameras around the outside of the house and a monitor at the desk. While he was reading a doe triggered our camera on the side of the house. This was 6:15 and she moved over to the neighbor's yard by the pool wall, where she gave birth to twins. I got up at 8:00 and he told me about it. The doe was a great mother, she cleaned the fawns. They were laying in grass. The fawns tried to stand up and fell back down but they didn't give up. The doe fed them and patiently waited for the fawns to get ready for them to move on. They were there for over four hours. We had to leave at 10:15 to go to our dance in Liberty Hill. The doe and fawns were a lot more stable when standing. The dow was grazing and the fawns stayed close by. When we got home they were gone. This was a special event to watch.

Mom and babies

Today we went to Liberty Hill to do our weekly C1/A2 dance at the Skis house. We met up with Henry and Susan to dance C1 to Johnny Preston on tape for an hour at 12:00. We danced four different tips on the tape and had a super time. At 1:00 the A2 session started. John Kephart showed up by himself, he usually comes with John Carlton and his wife from San Antonio. John Carlton had to get his hearing aide fixed because it broke. We were shy one person to have two squares. The dancers were very rusty so John spent most of the dance working on moves. I danced most of the dance because there were three single men and two single women so sometimes one of the men needed a partner. It was an ok dance.

We love square dancing

We got home at 4:15. We watched YouTube videos.

I played my Daily Challenges of Solitaire and Mahjong. The event was Event: Hard Road Mini of 10 games. It took me 2 hours, 2 minutes and 5 seconds, which put me in 27th place in my group. Then I played Angry Birds.

I played the weekly challenge of pinball, Elvira Scared Stiff. I got a new high score of 7,544,080, which put me in 31st place out of 39 participants.

In the evening we finished watching the 6th season of Elementary and started the 7th and final season. Then I watched Star Trek and Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs from our movies collection. I ended up doing 13,500 steps.
