Friday 10-30 Fantastic Friday

Fantastic Friday

We had a fantastic day. It got up to 65 degrees with sunshine and no wind.

We started the day out by going to get the Minnie from storage. We're going on a little camping trip at Jim Hogg Park on Georgetown Lake, which is run by the Corp of Engineers.

We attended three virtual square dances. The first dance was Don Moger's Weekly C1 dance at 12:00 for an hour and a half. Don had 48 participants on Zoom. We only did three tips because we were starting to get frustrated and we weren't having fun.

The second dance was Di Green's Weekly C1 dance at 3:00 for an hour and a half. Di had 38 participants on Zoom. She called six tips and did a super job. During the tips Di went through Pass The Axle, Rotatory Spin, Percolate, Linear Action and Cross Chain Thru. We had a great time.

The third dance was Ett McAtee's Weekly A2/C1 dance at 6:30 for an hour and a half. Ett had 34 participants on Zoom. She called 4 tips during the dance. We had fun.

In between the dances I played my Solitaire games. I did the Daily Challenges and the Event: Easy Street Mini of 5 games. It took me 6 minutes and 29 seconds, which put me 10th place in my group. I also did a few games in the Star Club.

Larry made a turkey on the Cameo. It is really cute.

After the last dance we watched two episodes of Warehouse 13. Then I watched four episodes of Mentalist. I ended up doing 23,000 steps, which put me in third place with 130,120 steps.

Thursday 10-29 Happy Thursday

Halloween is almost here

Halloween is only two days away. What are you going to do for Halloween? We're just going to hang around the house. For the last few years we haven't had any kids come knocking at our door on Halloween night and we weren't sure if we should buy any candy. We decided to buy a small bag of candy just in case.

Today was another cold day with the high in the mid 50's. It was very windy with the wind out of the north/west.

I played Solitaire games. I did the Daily Challenges and the Event: Hard Road Mini of 5 games. It took me 29 minutes and 48 seconds, which put me in 13th place in my group.

We started the day by going to Round Rock to work on Louise's front door. After replacing her door lock a few weeks ago she decided she wanted to replace her front door. The old door was in pretty bad shape, years ago someone broke into the house and damaged the door and the frame. Larry repaired it but everything really needed to be replaced. She did not want a window in her new door so she chose a six panel fiberglass door. The installer did not do a stellar job so Larry corrected a few issues and now everything is perfect. Even installed a new electronic door bell that allows her to choose from 52 different melodies. She currently has it playing a Christmas melody.

We attended two virtual dances. The first dance was Jeremy Butler's Weekly A2/C1 dance at 6:00 for an hour. We had 24 participants for the A2 tips and 21 participants for the C1 tip. Jeremy did a great job of calling. We had a lot of fun.

The second dance was Michael Levy's Weekly A2 dance at 7:30 for an hour. We had 16 participants. We had a small group and had fun. Michael put us in weird position and worked with four couple moves and two couple moves. We had a good time.

After the last dance we watched a couple of episodes of Warehouse 13. It is a science fiction series. The series went for five seasons. It's good. Then I watched four episodes of Mentalist. I did 27,000 steps, which put me in third place in my group with 107,079.

We didn't leave empty handed, we picked up a few grocery items and some hardware things. Then we went to The UPS Store to pick up our mail. The next stop was Target to get some more chili we like. The last stop was Michael's, which was right next door to buy some cardstock paper for Larry's projects, it was a special buy 1 pack and get 2 packs free. Saturday 10-24 Laid Back Day

Relaxing with a friend

We had a very laid back day. We spent most of the day hanging around the house. We woke up to a brisk morning with temperatures in the low 50's and wind out of the north.

On Saturdays we don't do any dancing. We like this because it gives us time to relax. Today Larry started the day out by going to Walmart to pick up a few things. When I got up he had just returned, he bought a Cinnabon Cinnamon Swirl cake for breakfast.

After breakfast we went for a walk at Crossroads Park. When we arrived we were surprised to see organized sports were going on. There were a few games going on the soccer fields, the spectators were spread out for social distancing. There were groups of kids and coaches practicing baseball in the pitching areas. When we were leaving we saw a couple of baseball games going on. The spectators in the stands were also practicing social distancing. We walked for 40 minutes. During our walk we saw people jogging, walking and enjoying the park just like us. As we were walking we stopped by one of the homes being built and walked through it. We enjoy doing this and haven't done this in a long time. It's nice to see how the house was being built and the floor plan that was used. We had a very nice walk.

Entrance to Crossroads Park

After our walk we spent the rest of day in the house. Larry found a new Cameo project, a Nutcracker. Before making it he watched a video on how to assemble it. Then he cut the pieces on the Cameo. Next he weeded the piece. Then he assembled the pieces using foam inserts. It came out super.

Tuesday 10-20 Dentist and Dancing

We had an awesome day with sunshine and temperatures in the mid 80's, here it got to 85.

I started the day out by going to the dentist at 10:00. Because it was my first visit I was there for an hour and a half. They looked at my x-rays and found I have some bone lose so they made recommended I use a rinse for dry mouth and come in every four months for a cleaning to get the problem under control. I had a deep cleaning done and have to go back in four weeks so they can check out the progress. I've done this before because for some reason I get a lot of build up on the lower teeth. The new dentist office is fantastic, it has all the updated equipment for x-rays and they display them on a big screen TV that you and the dentist can see.

Visiting the dentist

While I was at the dentist Larry worked on making fall cards on the Cameo. He used different colors of paper for each one. The cards came out beautiful.

One of the fall cards

I hadn't done any Sudoku games in ages so the first game was slow solving but the others went faster. I started to read another book on my Kindle called No Game For A Dame written by M. Ruth Myers. It's about a female private detective.

Due to Covid I have not been to the dentist since last November, normally I go every six months for a cleaning and checkup. Right after our cleanings in November Larry changed to a dentist practice that it just down the street. So far this year they have cleaned his teeth and placed two crowns on implants. He has been happy with the office and the precautions they have taken for Covid safety so today I called them for a cleaning appointment. I figured it would be weeks until they could see me but they said I could come in tomorrow.

Reading is fun

Sunday 10-18 Super Sunday

We had a super Sunday. It got up to 88 degrees with a strong wind out of the north, that kept it cool outside.

The Minnie is at the house and it was cool outside so Larry decided to start the day out by doing a small maintenance job. He had noticed that one of the turn signals was not working correctly so he decided to clean the bulb connections. He does this now and then and the lights start working again.

Minnie Project

After doing the little project Larry went back working with the Cameo.

While Larry did his project I played Solitaire games. Today was Solitaire Sunday so every Klondike game I solved it would double my points, which helps your statistics. I did the Daily Challenges and Event: Two Game Tango, which was 10 Klondike games and 10 Free Cell games. It took me 1 hour, 29 minutes and 28 seconds, which put me in 13th place in my group. We had another super evening dancing to Loren and dancers from around the world.

In between dancing we watched YouTube videos. We watched an episode of The Yorkshire Vet. I complete watching Janet King. I ended up doing 21,000 steps I missed my daily goal by 781 steps but I did met my weekly challenge goal with 176,585. This put me in third place in my group.

Saturday 10-17 Halloween Decorations

Beautiful Day

We started the day out with a cloud covering but by the afternoon the clouds were gone.  It got to 76 degrees with the humidity 69%. Even though it was high humidity it was a mild day because of the wind out of the north.

Last night Larry did our weekly grocery shopping online. This week Walmart only had to substitute one item. Our groceries arrived at 8:30. It's so nice just to walk to the front door and pick up our groceries.

Weekly grocery shopping

At 9:00 a gentleman showed up to install a new windshield in the Minnie. He removed the old windshield and got the new one ready to be installed. Another gentleman showed up  and they both put a suction cup on each side of the new windshield and put it in the hole of the old one. When this was done the second gentleman left. Then the first gentleman finished the install. He took the inspection tag off the old windshield and put it on the new one. The new windshield looks super no more crack or rock chips.

For a large part of the day Larry worked on a Cameo project. The Thanksgiving Card was a total of 42 pieces. He had to cut each piece and then glue some of the pieces together. He then had to wait for the glue to setup before he could finish assembling the card. He had fun doing this project.
