Monday 8-10 Making Flowers

Summer Fun

I slept in this morning. I finally rolled out of bed at 8:20 am Larry had been up since 6:00. He doesn't mind because he has his morning routine.

After breakfast I did my daily challenges and The Event: Two Game Tango Mini three games of Free Cell and three games of Tri Peaks. It took me 11 minutes and 39 seconds, which put me in 16th place in my group.

We spent most of the day having fun making flowers using the Cameo machine. A week ago Larry made a few flowers out of cardstock paper and they came out great. He wanted to finish the flowers out by putting leaves and stems on them. We decided to make a half dozen roses so we had to cut and wrap a couple of more flowers. The next thing was to make the leaves. Larry fit four patterns of leaves on one sheet of green cardstock paper. The hardest thing was to weed the leaves because there were some fine points on the leaves to weed out. Once the leaves were ready Larry glued the leaves on some small gauge wire using a hot glue gun. I did a few of the leaves, it was harder than it looked. I had a tendency of putting on way too much glue. We have some plastic flowers in the frontyard that look pretty bad so Larry decided to tear a few apart and use reuse their stems. When putting the leaves on the wire you had to leave extra wire so you can wrap the leaves around the stem. Larry wrapped the leaves around the stem and then he wrapped the tape around the wire to keep the leaves in place. The last step was putting the actual flower on top of the stem. The flowers look outstanding.

In the evening we watched a movie on Amazon called Fair Game. It was about Valerie Plame, who was a CIA operative during the Bush administration. The government blew her cover because of what her husband wrote. The movie started Naomi Watts and Sean Penn. It was very good. When Larry went to bed I watched Brokeback Mountain movie on Peacock. It was a slow moving movie but I liked it. I started to watch The Yorkshire Vet, which is a series about the local vet Julian Norton, Perter Wright, Julian's his partner and his staff and how they take care of all animals great and small. It's a documentary. I ended up doing 26,000 steps, which put me in third place in my group.
