Our New Library Card |
First off I want to thank the person who left a comment on my blog. I seldom get comments and I am always thrilled to know somebody actually reads it. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! You can see the comments that folks write, they are over on the left side near the bottom, you will have to scroll down a bit.
When was the last time you got a library card? You might remember that I wrote about Paper Back Swap last month, you can read about it here HERE. Basically it is a website that allows folks to swap books very inexpensively. We have been a member for years and have gotten 100's of books. We love finding a new author that we like and we especially like it when they write a series of books. The latest series we have discovered is Cork O'Connor written by William Kent Krueger. We have read a lot of the series but there are five we haven't read and they are not available via Paper Back Swap. Larry has put these books on his wish list but they may not come available for years, he actually has two books that have been on his wish list for three years. He thought maybe the local library may have them on e-books. He went to the website to see but you couldn't check it out unless you had a library card. He signed up for a card online but then we had to physically go to the library to get the actual card. The last time we had a library card was probably 20 years ago when I was working for IBM and I was taking college classes. I tried to get one from the Austin public library but since we did not life in the city they would not issue me a card. The county had an agreement with Lake Travis High School so I ended up with a card for the high school. Larry thought that the Temple library would probably turn us down since we don't live in Temple nor is our address a Temple address. but he thought he would give it a try. This afternoon we went to Temple to get a library card, it was very easy. All we had to do is show a driver's license. It didn't matter that we didn't live in Temple. We can now check out books from the library but we have to wait a week to check out e-books or videos. While at the library we walked around to see what was available. We found the books we were looking for and we were surprised to see all the DVDs you can check out. We were very impressed.
While we were in town we stopped by Tractor Supplies and bought a trailer ball cover. We had already been to a couple of places who did not have them and we got the very last one at Tractor Supply.

When we got home Larry mowed the back of our lot and the front yard. I weedeated the yard and blew off the driveway. After Larry was finished mowing he blew off the back porch. We had a busy afternoon.
In the evening we went to Harker Heights to help celebrate the Killeen Kickers 41st Anniversary. They invited Chet Miles to call the square dancing tips and Jerry and Lucy Pate to cue the round dances. Chet called seven tips to seven squares of square dancers. Lucy and Jerry did a half hour of pre rounds before the dance and they cued in between tips. We had a fabulous time dancing to Chet, socializing with friends and watching the round dancers. We visited with people we hadn't seen in a long time. Brad and Paula Caldwell showed up to dance, which was a pleasant surprise.
