Tuesday 4-30-24 Little Rock Downtown Riverside RV Park

Welcome to Arkansas sign

We had a gorgeous day with sunshine. We started the day in Missouri with the temperature in the low 60's and ended up in Little Rock, Arkansas with the high of 84 degrees.

I woke up at 7:00 and made pancakes for breakfast. After breakfast we put everything away because we're moving on. We left at 8:15.

We started the day driving a two lane highway through Missouri to Pocahontas, Arkansas. We saw a lot of farmfields. ranches and trees. It was a beautiful drive. When we got to Pocahontas we stopped at the Walmart so Larry could decide where to go. He had quite a few places to choose from but the weather forecast is still predicting rain on Thursday and Friday. He decided we would go to the Downtown Riverside RV Park in Little Rock. He reprogrammed the GPS. The route we took was a four lane divided highway. It was a great road to travel but the scenery wasn't as pretty as the two lane roads. We were 20 miles from Little Rock when we stopped for a bathroom break at a J.C. Penny's mall. While parked we decided to have lunch. I made sandwiches. After lunch we were back on the road. Before going to the RV Park we stopped and filled the Minnie so we won't have to do it in the morning.

We arrived at the Downtown Riverside RV Park at 12:45. Larry checked in, there were plenty of sites. In fact the park had added more sites by the office. We wanted the least expensive site so we ended up with a site right where we were last year. It's an overflow site located next to the bathrooms. Our site was $34.50 per night, this includes taxes and fees. This is a city park. They made a lot of improvements since we were here last spring.  They painted the wall green, built new bathrooms and office, added more RV sites and a dog park. It has always been very nice but now it is even better.

Once Larry plugged us in we read a bit. Larry was tired, he had driven 200 miles today. I played my Daily Challenge of Solitaire and Event. The event was Event: World Tour Mini of 10 games. It took me 2 hours, 8 minutes and 32 seconds, which put me in 15th place in my group.

After dinner we went for a 2 mile walk. We walked over the Arkansas River via the old railroad bridge which is now a pedestrian hiking trail. Once on the other side we walked around the William J. Clinton Presidential Library grounds. We walked around looking at the globes of the earth, there were a lot of them, one was called Protect our Heritage Forests, it had pictures of different animals in the continents. For example the artist put elephants and giraffes in Africa. All the globes were beautiful. The complex had a lot of neat buildings and statues about the history of Arkansas, gardens and a short trail on the wetlands. They had a orchard of big Southern magnolias. The wetlands trail was only half open. We walked it and then we walked to a huge eagle. As we were walking around we saw a lot of people taking pictures of people. Some were high school kids. It was a pleasant walk. After taking a picture of the eagle we went back over the Arkansas River.

When we got back to the Minnie we went over and took a shower. I finished doing my steps. I ended up doing 16,500 steps, which put me in 2nd place in my group.
