Monday 9-6 Leaving Big Meadows and Getting Power

Good-bye Big Meadows Campground

The campground we are headed to tomorrow is not suppose to have any cell phone service so my blog may not get updated for a few days

While we were at Big Meadows we had no hook ups and the restrooms were pit toilets but very clean. Tonight we're going to have full hook ups and showers. I love having power, you can charge everything at the same time, and use the electric heater and microwave without turning on the generator. I'm so excited.

 I'm so excited

After eight outstanding days at Big Meadows Campground we said good-bye. During our stay we hiked 35.5 miles and I walked around the campground every evening for 1.5 to 2 hours. We did two motorcycle rides to check out a few campgrounds (Upper and Lower Beaver Creek and Tucker Ponds). We met a lot of friendly people and dogs. The campground was only full on the weekends. The camp hosts were friendly and kept the restrooms clean and stocked. Our campsite was gorgeous with an outstanding view of the lake.

We left Big Meadows around 9:30. Larry found an RV park in South Fork for us to stay for a night so we can take showers, fill our water tank and dump our holding tangs. Before going to the park we stopped at Rainbow to fill up the Minnie with propane.

As we were leaving Big Meadows our tire pressure monitor alarm went off indicating one of our rear tires as being low on air, actually all of the tires showed being a few pounds low, the cold temperatures lower the air pressure. Once we were going down the road they came up to the correct pressure but the one was about 3 lbs low.so after we got propane Larry put air in the tire. Then we went to South Fork Visitor Center to waste an hour or so. Larry parked the Minnie and we had lunch.

South Fork Visitor Center was very nice, it had a small walking trail with wooden carvings of bears. I didn't walk the trail but Larry went inside and got a map.

After lunch I cleaned the Minnie and then we headed to the RV park. We had no problem getting a site. The park has new owners, they are from Colorado Springs and bought the park in April. The recreation hall has restrooms with showers, washers and dryers and play area, where people play cards, games and just hang out. Tonight was weenie roast night, you brought your own hot dogs. Aspen Ridge is a very nice park.

Once we were checked in a gentleman showed us where our site was. Once we got setup we when to the recreation hall to check it out. While there we talked to the owner. Then we went back to the Minnie and watched a few more YouTube videos. I did my Daily Challenges and Event: Medium Mayhem Mini of 5 games. It took me 13 minutes and 49 seconds, which put me in 10th place. I was surprised because the internet connection was very slow.

After dinner we went over and took a shower. Larry emptied our tanks and filled up the water tank. The weenie roast was at 6:00 and they had a great turnout. People were playing cornhole and in the recreation hall they were playing games. They had a big fire pit where the kids were roasting hot dogs. We didn't participate but we could see what was going on. I ended up doing 26,000 steps, which put me in 2nd place in my group.
