Sunday 9-5 Bike Ride to Beaver Creek Campgrounds

Gorgeous Sunny Day

When we woke up the temperature in the Minnie was 59, love having the small Wave3 propane heater. It works perfect on the table. The temperature outside was in the high 30s and got into the 70s. There were no clouds in the sky.

After Larry setting up the solar panel and having breakfast we went for a walk. We walked to the lake and dam area. There were a lot of people fishing on the banks and in their boats. We met our neighbors coming back from their hike. They wanted to say good-bye before we leave tomorrow.

While waiting for it to warm up a bit Larry watched some YouTube videos from the people he follows, he hasn't watched any since we left on our trip. Since our internet is sometimes non-existent or really slow he has a program that will download these videos when we do have a connection and then we can choose to watch them whenever we want. While he was doing this I did the Daily Challenges and Event: World Tour Mini of 10 games. It took me 45 minutes and 20 seconds, which put me in 17th place in my group.

After lunch we took the bike for a ride. We went down toward South Fork to check out Beaver Creek Upper and Lower Campgrounds. The road in and out of Big Meadow Campground is a very rough dirt road for about a mile and then you get on blacktop. The main highway was busier than yesterday because we started later then yesterday. We saw a lot of motorcycles on the road, it was a perfect day for a ride. The road to Beaver Creek Campgrounds was blacktop and went by a very nice housing development. First stop was lower Beaver Creek Campground, it was small but very nice. The campsite were along Beaver Creek and had a great rock canyon. We stopped for a bit and while walking around found that for water they still use a manual water pump, this was too cool to pass up so I started pumping. Larry thought I would never get the pump to work because I was using both hands and going too slow but after about 15 pumps the water started flowing. We loaded back on the motorcycle and drove to Upper Beaver Creek Campground. It was also small but very nice with sites by the creek. Both campgrounds close on September 6th. We were going to go to the next campground but it was four more mile down a dirt road. Instead we went into South Fork to Rainbow Express to fill the motorcycle with fuel. It was very busy, we waited a short time to get a free pump. While we were getting gas three off-road bikes pulled up behind us to get gas. One of the riders asked Larry about our bike. Larry said it was perfect for what we want it for. After getting gas we went back to the campground. We had another great bike ride.

For the past few days I have been reading; One For The Blackbird, One For The Crow by Olivia Hawker. Larry recommended it. It took place in the 1800s, it was about two young people growing up on the prairie of Wyoming from two different families and how they are thrown together because of an accident, and how the two families learn to rely on each other. It was longer than most books I read but I really enjoyed it.

After dinner I walked around the campground for an hour and a half. I ended up doing about 22,000 steps today, which missed my daily goal of 24,139. I ended up coming in 6th place in my group for the week with 173,839.
