Wednesday 2-5 Awesome Ski Day

Back on the slopes

After taking a day off we were back on the slopes at Ski Santa Fe.

We woke up with no snow coming down but it was very cold, 17 degrees. Yesterday evening the snow had stopped and some of the snow had melted, overnight it got below freezing so there was ice. A couple of workers at the motel put down salt so the walkways weren't icy. Before leaving to go up the mountain Larry had to scrape the snow and ice off the windshield and windows. It took a bit. He had the car running to warm it up and to defrost the windows and windshield. I thought the doors and hatch back were frozen solid because I couldn't open them. Larry unlocked my door in the front. I had to load things in the car through the front. Once everything was loaded off to the slopes we went. Our car isn't four wheel drive so Larry had to be careful going up the mountain. There were a few spots, where we slid a little but Larry just took his time and we didn't have any problems. As we were climbing the mountain the temperature was dropping, it got to -2 degrees. We arrived at Ski Santa Fe at 8:45 and the upper parking lot was full so we had to park in the lower one. In the afternoon when we left it was 12 degrees. Even though the temperatures were cold it didn't feel that cold because the sun was shining and there was very little wind.

The ski area was a lot busier today than Monday but there still wasn't a line at the lifts. We had an awesome day of skiing. I didn't fall at all. We stopped around 1:00 because my legs were getting tired and I didn't want to mess up a perfect day of skiing. My boots worked great, I didn't have them too tight. We have another day of skiing tomorrow.

Once we got back to the motel we spent the rest of the day reading and relaxing. When it was time for dinner we walked over to Wendy's. We like their chili and I had a Jr. bacon cheese burger. In the evening I did my 18,000 steps.
