Monday 3-15 Covid Vaccination Appointments

Laid Back Day

We had a beautiful day with sunshine and it got up to 84 degrees.

We started the day out by going to town. First stop was the UPS Store to mail a package. , then to Murphy to fill up the car. Next stop was Walmart and finally we swung by Today's Car Wash to give the car a bath, it had been many months since we washed the car and the snow storm really messed it up.

When we got home Larry started another paper craft project.

As of today in Texas people 50 and above are eligible to get the Covid vaccine. Lots of folks in the previous approved groups still have not been able to get appointments so it seemed a bit premature to open it up to an even larger group. They announced the addition of the 50 and above group late last week and this morning when Larry started to check around about getting an appointment most places had not updated their websites, not that it made any difference since nobody had any appointments available. In the afternoon Larry again checked Scott and White and was surprised when he was able to get an appointment for Thursday, he immediately logged into my account to get me an appointment and they now indicated none were available. Over the next 30 minutes he kept trying and was finally able to get me an appointment for Thursday, it is a couple of hours later than his but that is fine.

We live in Bell County and in the beginning all appointments went through the county, they would put you on a wait list and as they obtained more vaccine they would work their way down the list. A few weeks ago the county turned it all over to individual providers and now you are on your own.

You can certainly understand peoples frustration with the appointment system, you have to figure out who provides the vaccines and you must check with each provider separately. Currently in our area none of the providers have a wait list, when they know they will have vaccine on hand they will open up the appointment process and when the slots are filled they stop taking appointments. Only the people lucky enough to be checking the correct provider at the correct time will get appointments. Larry was able to identify four providers that the county is working with, in addition to them some CVS and some Walmart stores are providing vaccinations. Each of them have their own individual process. It is all very confusing and I was glad he took care of it.

I didn't feel like doing much of anything. I spent the day playing Solitaire games. I started out doing the Daily Challenges and the Event: Two Game Tango Mini of 6 games (3 Spider and 3 Free Cell). It took me 26 minutes and 7 seconds to complete, which put me in 33rd place in my group. Then I played some Star Club Challenges. We watched YouTube videos.

In the evening we attended a virtual square dance, Dayle Murphy's Weekly A2/C1 at 5:45 for two hours. During the A2 session we had 11 participants and the C1 session we had 10. Daryl called four tips in each session. The fourth tip of each session was a full square tip. We had a super evening of dancing.

After the dance we watched a couple of episodes of Downton Abbey. Then I finished watching the second season of Conception. I ended up doing 26,000 steps, which put me in fourth place in my group.
