Monday 3-22 Hiking at Cedar Breaks

Camping at Cedar Breaks

What a super day. It was overcast all day with a breeze, which kept it cool. The temperature got to 68 degrees.

At 10:30 pm a storm came through with a hard rain and some hail. A tornado warning was issued for Georgetown and Jarrell areas and the tornado warning sirens went off. The worst of the storm missed us but we were on a tornado watch for an hour. When the weather alert went off on the phone saying to take cover Larry was already in bed, he got dressed just in case. We have a TV in the motor home that we seldom use, Larry tried to get a local station on it but none of them worked. He got on the internet and was able to find a live news feed on a local Austin station, when they showed the worst of the severe storm had passed over us Larry went back to bed..

We started the day out by going for a six mile hike for three hours. We took a path across the street from our site, it took us to the Goodwater Trail. We hiked three miles until we got to the Crockett Gardens Falls. This was the first time we went this far on the trail from Cedar Break Park. The trail was wide for about a mile and then it narrowed up. We hiked over a lot of rocks and roots. We were the only ones on the trail, it was 8:30 and I guess it was too early for other people. The trail was moderate and went through the trees. There were a few benches to sit on but not many. We stopped occasionally to look at Lake Georgetown. After we had hiked for an hour and fifteen minutes we were going to turn around and go back but Larry kept hearing water so we continued on. We went by a homestead where the owners were rebuilding some of the buildings and they had a beautiful white horse. There was a sign about for the Crockett Falls so we took the trail. The falls were beautiful. After looking at the falls we turned around and headed back. On the way back we saw a few people and dogs. By the time we got back we were tired. We had a great hike.

We spent the rest of the day relaxing. Larry read. I did my Daily Challenges and the Event: Two Game Tango of 20 games (10 Klondike and 10 Spider). I got stuck on one Klondike game and two Spider games. It took me 2 hours, 31 minutes and 3 seconds, which put me in 17th place in me group. I also walked around the park to the boat ramp and picnic area. I walked around for 35 minutes. It was a very nice walk.

For dinner Larry barbecued some sausage patties. After dinner we walked around the park for 30 minutes. When we got home I did my Jazz program and finished doing my steps. Today I did 26,000 steps, which is a good beginning. I also did some Sudoku games.
