Gorgeous sunny day |
The rain went away. We had a gorgeous sunny day with a slight breeze.
We left Caesar Creek State Park and headed to Winton Woods Park Campground, it was only 45 miles away. We arrived about 11:30. We were here last year around the same time so we knew the park. The lady in the office checked us in. Larry got a site near the bathrooms. We have a lake view site with power. Some of the sites have full hook ups. We know the park will be full this weekend because it's their fall festival celebration but we only need a site for a couple of nights.
Winton Woods Park is very nice. The park is over 2500 acres, it has a lake, an 18- hole golf course, 2.6 miles paved trails, 1.1 fitness trail, nature trails, basketball courts and horse trails. It also has a great playground for the kids.
After we setup the Minnie we had lunch and read for a bit. A group of kids and parents showed up on the site right next to us to have a barbecue. It was a little noisy because the kids were having a great time playing. The group was gone by 8:00. After we had dinner we went for a walk. We walked about 2 miles using the Harbor Trail. It was a very nice walk. We shared the trail with a lot of people walking their dogs, jogging and bicycling. When we got to the Harbor area we walked by a cute playground for the kids. In the playground there was a splash pad that included an Ark. It had a lot of cute animals hanging out the windows. There was a mother there playing with her two kids. We also saw people fishing off the banks of the harbor. At the Harbor in the summertime you can rent kayaks, canoes and paddle boats to use on the lake. It still amazes me that whenever a city spends the money and takes the time to make trails how much the trails are used by the locals and visitors. We had a wonderful walk.
