Gorgeous Day |
We woke up with blue skies and sunshine. It rained early in the morning but by the time we got out of bed the rain was gone.
We spent most of the day indoors reading because the hiking trails were too wet to use. We did get out of the Minnie a couple of times to walk around the campground. Both times we ended up going to the entrance of the campground. One time we had to pay for another night and the other time was to get rid of our trash. We barbecued pork sausage patties for lunch and seasoned pork for dinner.
In the afternoon while we were reading we started smelling gasoline. Larry went outside to see if he could figure out what was causing the smell. Using a flashlight he finally saw a small fuel line laying on top of the Minnie's gas tank that was seeping fuel. He discovered it was the fuel line going to the generator. Of course the fuel tank is underneath the Minnie and the leaking fuel line was laying on top of the tank, using the flashlight you could barely see it. Larry thought the gas tank would have to be lowered down to fix it but he crawled under the Minnie and found he could reach up and get one hand on top of the tank. He dug through some stuff he carries with us and found a small hose clamp and something to plug the line off with. It took him quite a few trips crawling around under the Minnie and me using a flashlight telling him what he was feeling to finally cut the line and plug it off. Of course the generator will not work but he will replace the line when we get home. We could not tell if the hose was damaged from rubbing or if possibly a squirrel had chewed on it.
At first it appeared we might have to have the Minnie towed to a repair shop to have it fixed which would have certainly meant missing at least part of this weekends dance if not the entire weekend. We are so thankful that we were able to fix it ourselves.
