Another fun day |
We woke up to a cool morning, cool enough that we had our little propane heater running.
This morning we went to the National Museum of the United States Air Force. Wow, what a terrific museum. It has four huge hangers filled with displays of planes, uniforms and equipment used throughout the history of the United States Air Force. The first building was about World War I and World War II. The second building was about the Korean and Southeast Asia War (Vietnam). The third building was the Cold War. In between the third and fourth building there a gallery of Missiles. The fourth building was about the Presidents planes, Global Reach, Space and Research & Development. Visitors were allowed to walk through some of the planes and climb into some of the cockpits. In building four there were a couple of simulators for people to ride for a fee. There was a gift shop, where you can buy souvenirs. There also was a
memorial park. In two of the buildings on the second floor there a
cafe. We walked around for over three hours and didn't see everything.
This is the worlds larges air museum. If you were a person with an interest in planes you could spend days here and still there would be things you would miss. There were planes everywhere including hanging from the ceiling and there was information on each plane and the era it was from. The museum is free. We had a super time walking around.

After resting a bit we drove a few miles down the road to The Wright Brothers Memorial Park. While there we talked with a ranger for about an hour. He talked about the area and pointed out a few things. He pointed out the flying field, where the Wright brothers made hundreds of test flights. As we were talking we saw a huge groundhog in the park. After talking for a bit he walked with us to the visitor center and we walked around looking at the exhibits about the Wright Brothers. It was a nice facility.
At the end of the day we went back to the Hollywood Casino, they had live racing again tonight. We stayed for 6 of the 14 races. Tonight I actually did very well, I won 4 out of 6 races. I made $1.80 on each race. After the six races we went back to the Minnie. I was so excited about winning the races I went back to the casino and gambled for three hours. Only lost $10 and had a great time.
