Swimming in Lake Belton at Rogers Park |
It was a beautiful day. The wind was down but we were afraid it would come back up considering it has all week so we didn't go boating. We loaded Flo into the car and went to town. The other day when we went shopping HEB didn't carry a few items we needed so we went to Walmart for them. Larry's hair has been getting long and it's out of control so after shopping at Walmart we stopped at the new Supercuts that is in the Walmart shopping center. Afterwards we headed towards the house.

The boat ramp at Rogers Park |
On the way home we swung by Rogers Park just to see if it was open. The gate was closed yesterday but this morning it was open. We are now able to launch our boat at our normally ramp. We thought if Rogers Park was open maybe Temple Lake Park would be open. We didn't have our park pass to get into Temple Lake Park so we swung by the house and picked it up. When we got to the gate it was still locked up but there were people working in park. Maybe they're in the process of opening it up. As we were leaving we checked out the park from the car and saw that the bathrooms were damaged. The paper reported the other day that the Corps was going to bring in port-a-johns until they can get the bathrooms redone. We wanted to take Flo swimming so back to Rogers Park we went. Rogers Park is one of the free boat ramps on Lake Belton so your don't need the park pass. Once Larry parked the car and I unloaded Flo so she could go swimming. We would have let her go swimming the first trip here but there are rocks on the banks and she would have tried to get out on the rocks. She doesn't understand she can't climb the rocks anymore. At Temple Lake Park there are areas she can easily get out. We were at Rogers Park about a half hour. Flo walked down the boat ramp to get in the water and climbed out where there was a little path on the rocks. I kept an eye on her to make sure she didn't try to climb on the rocks. There is a road at Rogers that take people to a parking lot and an area they can use to launch their kayaks and stand up paddle boat. The lake is still 6 feet over full so the road is underwater. This gave Flo an opportunity to walk the road while she was wading in the lake. On the way back to the car she wanted to walk to the dock but the walkway was partly in the water and there were rocks she would have to climb over to get out of the water. I told her no. When we got back to car I dried her off and loaded her back into the car. Larry read the paper while Flo and I walked around the park. By the time we got home it was time for lunch.
After lunch Larry and I read. I took a nap and played computer games. In the evening we again met up with Louis to go to Allemande Hall for another square dance. Every year the Heart of Texas Square and Round Association have a two day special dance called Cornhuskers. The first night they have a two hour dance where the association callers (Wendell Moore, Dale Smith, Dennis Camp and Ed Larder) called the dance. The cloggers performed for about a half hour and did a great job. There were enough people for three squares and a couple extra. The callers did a good job in calling. We had a nice evening dancing and visiting with friends.
