8-3 Helping People

The last couple of days when we went to the lake the wind was blowing so today we decided to run a few errands in town. After breakfast we loaded Flo into the car and off to town we went. The other day we received a coupon in the mail for 20% off a purchase at Advance Auto Parts. Larry was getting low on fuel additive called Sea Foam so our first stop was there to pick up a gallon. When we were in the parking lot and getting ready to leave a lady asked if Larry could check her oil. He did and the car was low, he added a quart of oil and checked it again, it was still a bit low and he told her when the car cooled down she should check it again. This was his first good deed for the day. In Sundays newspaper ad Larry saw Office Depot/Office Max, had 16 mg San Disk USB Drives for $3.99 so the next stop was at Office Max to pick up a couple. Flo hadn't been swimming for awhile so we went to Nolan Creek to let her swim. Today we parked in the restaurants parking lot because the road to the other area was closed due to being worked on. Flo swam and did a lot of sniffing. After a half hour we started back to the car. Flo was exhausted but she slowly walked to the car. Once she was loaded back into the car we headed to HEB to do our weekly shopping, on the way we filled the car up, unleaded gas was 1.75 per gallon. After doing our shopping the last stop was The UPS Store to get our mail and pickup a package that was waiting for us. On the way home we swung by the boat ramp at the marina to see if it was open. Larry is getting tired of trailering  the boat to Stillhouse Hollow and not finding good water. The ramp is open, it's not the ideal ramp but it is usable. While I was putting away the groceries Larry opened the package up. We weren't sure what it was but when he opened it up he found out it was his new wake board gloves. He wears a XXL glove, they are hard to find and these barely fit. His old gloves were many years old and holes were worn into the fingers. He hopes when the new gloves get wet they may loosen up a little. We had a busy morning so in the afternoon we rested. I worked on my puzzle for a little while and played computer games. Larry read and took a nap. Flo slept.

Putting the spring back up
Last night Larry called his sister Louise and she said that one of her garage door springs was not working, it had been broken for a couple of weeks. Whenever she wanted to mow she would have to lift the door, it's real heavy and easy to drop to the ground. On Wednesdays we go to Georgetown and square dance with The Shirts 'n' Skirts Club so we drove a bit further and dropped by her house before we went dancing. We left the house about 3:00 and we weren't going to be back until 10:30 so I fed Flo her dinner as we were leaving. Before getting to Louise's house Larry called her and told her we were about five minutes away. She was eating her dinner so it gave her enough time to finish eating. Larry found the cable going to the spring broke. The last time he had worked on the garage door he had bought two cables and only had to use one. Louise told him about the spare cable and he was very happy since he wouldn't have to go track one down. He also was happy he could reuse the spring. It didn't take him long to replace the cable and adjust the door. Louise is a happy woman. The second good deed Larry did today. After fixing the garage door he checked out her back door fame, the paint was coming off. He found that Louise was correct the paint was coming off. He told her to let the wood dry a couple of days and then prime and paint it. This should prevent wood rot.

Doing the Grand Square with Jim

Before leaving Louise's house Larry changed clothes for the dance. On the way to the dance we stopped by Fuddruckers to have dinner. This evening Jim Hayes was in charge of the dance. He did seven square dancing tips. In between each tip he played one song for people to dance. He didn't have anyone to cue round dancing or line dancing. We had six squares on the floor along with some folks sitting out. I line danced one song. There were more men than women tonight so Larry asked Jim Shoemaker to dance with me a couple of tips. Jim was very happy. Another good deed today. We had a fun time dancing with the Shirts 'n' Skirts Club. LIFE IS GOOD!!!!!!!
