Wednesday 10-11-23 Fremont Street Las Vegas

Main Street RV Park

We slept with the fan going all night and it was very comfortable. In the morning Larry got a small electric heater down and plugged it in because it was 50 degrees in the Minnie. When I got up it was super comfortable.

I made mini waffles for breakfast. Afterwards we started putting things away. Once we got things secured Larry disconnected us from the power. I put the step in. We were on the road again at 8:30.

Our next destination was Las Vegas, it was 110 miles from Beatty. The drive was all desert with mountains in the background. We did see a few burros. The closer we got to Las Vegas the less we saw of the mountains. You couldn't even see the tall buildings until you were getting close. The air quality in Las Vegas is really bad, apparently it is due to dust and wind. We stopped at a Walmart and bought a few items, the food area was small, I guess it wasn't a super Walmart. They had almost everything we wanted.

The last time we were in Las Vegas was in 2015. We stayed right downtown at Main Street Station RV Park. It was a bit noisy but it was really convenient, only two blocks away from Fremont Street. It has full hookups and nice bathrooms with showers. It was also really inexpensive, only $10. We are staying there again but it is now $45.

We arrived at around 11:00. There were lots of empty spots, Larry backed into one and plugged us into power to make sure it worked. Afterwards we went to Main Street Hotel and Casino to check in. The lady, who helped us was very friendly and helpful. She said that the reservation was for spot #129. Then she asked which spot we were parked in. It was our lucky day, we had parked in #129. What was the odds we picked the right spot. Then we went back to the Minnie and had lunch.

After lunch I went back to the casino and gambled. I was not as lucky gambling as we were with the RV spot. I planned to stay for a couple of hours but I was back within a half hour. I had gambled $20 away. Larry was surprised to see me back. I read a bit and then went back to the casino. This time I went across the street to it's sister casino. I stayed there a little longer but I gambled another $20. I called Larry and told him I was coming home. He laughed, this was the quickest I had every been back from a casino. I gave up gambling for the day.

In the evening we walked over to Fremont Street to see what was going on. It's always loud but we had fun. We walked around and took some pictures. I tipped one of the people statues. He asked if I wanted my picture taken, so Larry took my picture. Everytime we walk around Fremont Street it amazes me how talented the performers are. We walked through some of the casinos to see if I could see slots that were more in my price range and I could play longer on them. We found some. We walked through a non-smoking casino. It was nice but didn't have the slots I would enjoy playing. We had fun walking around.

  1. Wow - we haven't been to Fremont street in years. That is what happens when you live in Vegas. Stay away from the tourists spots. The Pinball MUseum just moved to that new spot. Did you get to see the Sphere on the strip. It is amazing? Glad you are having a good time.

    1. Hi Carol: Years ago we were on Fremont Street and really enjoyed it. It was just as much fun this time. We were planning on going by the Sphere but unfortunately we didn't make it. We left Las Vegas this morning, waved at the two of you as we went through Henderson.
