Thursday 10-12-23 Bus Ride, Pinball & Fremont Street

First welcome sign

We had an outstanding day.

I crawled out of bed at 7 and made mini waffles for breakfast. Afterwards we relaxed with a book.

About 9:15 we headed out to catch a bus. We walked a few blocks to Las Vegas Blvd. where we bought day passes for $8 each. It was a double decker bus called Duece. I think this was the first double decker we have been on. We decided to sit up top and take the seats in front. It was exciting to ride a bus through Las Vegas. We hadn't been to Las Vegas for many years. On the ride we saw some of the old casinos we remembered from the past and we saw a lot of new ones. We saw shopping malls, convention centers, restaurants, fast food, tourist shops and other shops. We saw a lot of people walking around the strip. There was construction going on because they were getting ready for the Formula1 Grand Prix in November. It was suppose to take an half hour to arrive at the last stop, which was the old welcome to Las Vegas sign. It took about 45 minutes.

We were surprised to see so many people at the Welcome to Las Vegas sign. Larry just took a picture of the sign because the line was way too long to stand in. Afterwards we walked a few blocks to the Pinball Hall of Fame. Before going inside Larry stopped and said hello to a police officer. He told us that the Vice President, Kamala Harris was going to be showing up very soon and they were going to shut down the street for a few minutes. She was coming to Las Vegas as a part of her "Fight of Our Freedoms" college tour.

The Pinball Hall of Fame was a huge facility with many pinball and arcade games. A lot of the pinball machines weren't working. They had a lot of games from the 1950's to the 1990's. The prices of a games range from $.25 to $1.00. We played games that were $.75 and $1.00.  Larry bought $20.00 of quarters and we were there for a couple of hours. Many of the games we played we have at home, games such as Red & Ted's Road Show, Creature From the Black Lagoon, Golden Eye, Medieval Madness, Attack From Mars, Circus Voltaire, Aerosmith and a few others. We also played ones we don't have such as Star Wars The Mandalorian, Game of Thrones, Iron Maiden, Revenge of Mars and a couple more. They have a machine for sodas but no snacks. We had a super time.

After playing pinball we walked a few blocks to find a place to eat. We ended up having lunch at McDonald's. We finished eating right in time to catch a bus back to Fremont Street. The ride back took about an hour because the traffic was bumper to bumper. When we got to Fremont Street we walked around to see what's going on. There were more street performers and vendors then last night but some of the performers from last night weren't there. We saw more people flying above then last night. I forgot to mention last night we saw a lady stranded on the fly over. An employee had to fly to her and hook on to her harness and take her safely to the end of her run. This was cool to watch.

In the evening I went to Main Street casino and gambled for about an hour. My luck was a lot better, I made $7.00. When I got home we walked back to Fremont Street.

Tonight it was a lot busier. The light show was different and more colorful. More people were walking around and more street performers. There were two stages with Halloween acts. One was Wicked Dreams and the other was Alter Igor. Wicked Dreams had outstanding performers. We watched then for the first half of their shows. The group had six ladies doing different aerobatics with hoops, ropes, cloth ropes and other props and a gentleman sang some songs with the ladies dancing while he sang. A couple of the ladies also sang. The performers wore makeup for Halloween. Alter Igor was a band dressed up for Halloween. We only listened to one song of them because the music was too loud. We tipped a couple street performers, the puppeteer and human statue. We had a super night.
