Picacho Peak
We woke up early, about 5:30, we wanted to get an early start because we had to drive through Phoenix. We put everything down and secure. Then we had a quick breakfast and were on the road by 6:00.
Larry drove about 180 miles to Tucson. We drove mainly on interstates. We started on the same rough road as yesterday but it seemed a little smoother. We stopped in Wickenburg to fill the Minnie with gas. When we got to the Phoenix area our GPS told us to take the 202 loop, it takes you around Phoenix but Larry decided to stay on I10 because it was early on a Saturday and he figured it wouldn't be too bad. Larry was right. Interstate 10 had five or six lanes and we got right through. At times it was confusing because you didn't know what lane to be in. Once out of Phoenix the interstate was four lanes. We were surprised how much Casa Grande had grown.
We arrived at Larry's mom's (Shirley) house about 10:15. His brother and significant other stopped by and Shirley put on a large lunch with lasagna, salad and cut fruit. Most of the day we visited. For dinner we had a frozen pizza (my favorite) and more of the fruit. It is nice to see family and catch up.
