Wednesday 7-11 Oh No, Sewing Project

Oh No, not another sewing project!!!!

Today it was hot, got to 100. Once again I got  up feeling poorly, my allergies were acting up.

We spent a good part of the day working on the motorcycle seat project. Larry finished shaping the foam then he glued the two pieces together with contact cement. After it was setup we started the next step. The front of the seat foam is now a couple inches taller then it was originally so the seat cover no longer fits. We were going to use both seat covers that came with the seats to make a new cover but decided to purchase a yard of black vinyl. Off to town we went. We stopped at Walmart, they didn't have what we wanted so we went to Hobby Lobby. We found a vinyl that we liked and picked up a spool of thread.

Sanding extra foam off

Applying contact cement to the two seat pieces

We now had to decide how we were going to do the sewing. Larry drew the shape of the seat on the vinyl and the amount we needed. Then he cut the vinyl. Now, it was my turn to take over and sew the new vinyl to the original seat cover. We started with one side at a time. I sewed the first side to the vinyl. Then Larry tried it out to make sure it fit the seat. Well, where the seat curved it didn't fit correctly. We are now experimenting on how to correct this.

I also spent time working on my puzzle and baking some Crispy White Chocolate Chip Cookies. We ate the cookies while we relaxed in front of the television. We watched an Amazon movie called Suspicion of Mr. Whicher: The Murder in Angel Land. The movie is a British detective series taking place in 1860. I liked it. After the movie we started watching a series called Very British Scandal starring Hugh Grant and Ben Whishaw. It's based off a real story about a member of Parliament plotting to murder his ex-lover who was male. So far I like this series. We had a great day.
