Tuesday 3-7 New Neighbors

Our new neighbors
A cold front came in last night and hung around until the afternoon. About 10:00 the clouds rolled in and it looked like it was going to rain. We didn't get any rain but we got the north wind. It was windy all day once again.

A beautiful woodpecker in an oak tree
Larry was going to wash the Minnie but the wind was too strong. Instead he did some reading and I worked on my puzzle. Larry took a break from his reading and was looking out the back window when he noticed a woodpecker sticking its head out of a hole in a dead oak tree on the lot next to our house. I had seen a couple of woodpeckers hanging around the oak trees next door last week but didn't think anything about it. We watched it for a long time. It would stick its head out and look around. At one point Larry saw it come completely out of the hole. Before it came out another one came by and pecked around the hole. We figure since there are two that they are probably a couple. We also figured considering one stayed in the hole it probably has a nest. We're going to continue keeping an eye on the tree to see if we can see any small woodpeckers in the future. Our new neighbors are two beautiful woodpeckers.

The dirt we spread
After lunch Larry and I went to town. Larry wanted to get some dirt for around the septic tank and the side of the house, he also wanted to get a fitting for the extension he built for the Minnie. We went to The Home Depot, they didn't have the fitting but one of the workers recommended a plumbing supply house in Temple. We stopped there but they didn't have what he wanted either but they recommended another plumbing supply place. One of the customers gave Larry directions to Ham & McCreight Supply Inc. They had the part he wanted. After buying the part we went to Walmart and bought 15 bags of dirt. We bought 15 bags of Timberline Top Soil, 40 lbs. bags.

What the septic area looked like after the dirt was spread
When we got home we realized that the soil was the same brand that we had bought last year. The soil from last year was brown and mostly sand. This years soil is black. I unloaded the bags of soil and put a few bags by the septic tank and the rest on the side of the house. We had a couple of bags of soil from last year so Larry spread them first. The first thing Larry did was cut open the bag of dirt and dumped it, then he spread the dirt with a rake. He did this process by the septic tank and on the side of the house, He didn't use all the dirt, we kept two bags in case we need to spread more. It took us about an hour to spread the dirt.

After spreading the dirt we went inside and rested. When I finished resting I worked out for a half hour with Just Dance.

While I was making dinner Larry found that Google Play had a special on the newest Star Trek movie, we could rent it for $1.99 or buy it for $10.00. We had seen this movie in the theater last year and liked it so we decided to buy it. This evening after watching the YouTube videos we follow and then watched the movie. We had a very nice day.
