Tuesday 3-21 Planting Flowers

It was a beautiful day
We had a beautiful day with lots of sunshine and a little breeze.

Larry was busy in the morning making phone calls. One was to our RV insurance company to make sure we had coverage in Canada. We are covered but Canada requires you to have an insurance card printed on a specific paper. The lady said it would take a week to get the cards, he explained we were leaving in less than a week. She told him he could setup a FedEx account that they could bill to and they would send the insurance cards for the RV. He went to the FedEx site and setup an account then he called the insurance company back and gave them his account number. Hopefully, the cards will arrive in time, if not at least we know we have coverage..

The next phone call was to Greeson Lawn Services. Years ago when we lived in Austin we took our first two month trip and we didn't have anyone come in and mow the grass, you can imagine things got a bit out of control. The following trips our neighbor (Sara) said she would mow our yard when we traveled and in return we would mow her yard when she traveled. This worked out great. When we moved to Belton Larry noticed all our neighbors were using a lawn service to mow their yards. One of the companies was Greeson Lawn Services. They did an excellent job so from that time on he calls them. He talks to Tommy who is the owner and makes the arrangements. Tommy said they would be out Wednesday's to do the job.

Next was calling the Newspaper. When we went to the valley something went wrong and the paper did not get stopped on time. Larry had scheduled for the paper to stop being delivered the the day before we left but we still received a paper, he called them from the road and explained he had gotten a paper and it should have been stopped. They apologized, said they would get it stopped and pickup any papers left in the driveway. When we got home a month later there were a couple of weeks of old papers laying beside the house. Apparently they didn't stop delivering for awhile and one of our neighbors was kind enough to remove the papers from our driveway. Larry asked them to stop delivery tomorrow even though we won't be leaving for days, he wants to be sure it actually stops.

He was still not done with phone calls, had to call the vet and get a refill on Flo's pain medication.

After making the calls Larry worked on the last Home Depot Seeds Program project. The item he received from the program was a Glacier Bay Grab Bar. Larry had purchased and installed a grab bar in the tub/shower of the guest bath before his mother came to visit last year so when one came up this month on the Seeds Program he decided to get one for the master bath. It came in yesterday so this morning he decided to install it. The first thing he decided where in the bath to install it. When we had the house built Larry had them put in blocking behind the sheetrock in the shower and toilet area just in case we needed to make it handicap accessible. He decided to install the grab bar in the shower. He pulled up the picture on the computer to see where the blocking is located in the shower and printed it. Once he located the blocking he started the installation. I helped him by holding the bar so he could level it before drilling the holes for the screws. He marked where the holes were going, then drilled the holes. Next step was screwing the bar in place. Before he screwed the screws all the way down he put some sealant around them to prevent leaks. Then he put the cover over the screws. Larry did an outstanding job.

In the afternoon we went to town to put our mail on hold at the post office. We're going to be gone for a couple of months so Larry had to talk to the Supervisor. The next stop was Belton Feed to pickup food for Flo. Belton Feed is located right next door to the post office. While in the store we decided to buy some wildflower seeds. We picked up three packs (Wildflower Fragrant Mixture, English Daisy and Delphinium). Two of the flower seeds are perennial, which means you only have to plant them once and they will regrown every year. The wildflower fragrant mixture seeds is annual, which means you have to plant them every year.

Watering the seeds
When we got home I planted the seeds. Well, not exactly, I threw the seeds on one of the lots next door. Then I watered the seeds. Maybe we'll have flowers maybe we won't but we won't know until we get home from our trip. It was fun doing this and I will have to water the seeds a few more times before we leave.

After planting the flowers I worked out for a half hour on Gold's Gym and forty-five minutes on Just Dance. Larry made sure our GPS had maps of Canada and he started getting ready for our trip.

For dinner I barbecued chicken and baked some sugar cookies. After dinner we watched our YouTube videos and a documentary on Amazon. The documentary was As Is by Nick Cave, he is an International performance artist. Nick got together with local artist in Shreveport to put on an unique show. It was a very good documentary on the steps he took to make the program happen. Then I worked on my puzzle. We had a busy day but it was fun.
