El Pato |
We had a marvelous day of dancing. We started out going to Tropic Star and dancing with Joe Saltel and Karen Tripp. The dance had 57 couples, which made 14 squares and one couple sitting out. In between a few of the square dancing tips Karen cued line dances. We had an outstanding time. Joe is very enthusiastic, which makes the dancing a lot of fun. He has so much fun calling that he occasionally will burst out laughing. He makes the dance challenging and will walk you through the moves that are giving the floor problems. Karen Tripp is very good. While she is cuing she dances. She introduces you to the moves and gives you different options you can do while doing the move.

On the way home we stopped and had lunch at El Pato. We shared a plate of nachos which had ground beef, refried beans, cheese and jalapenos. The nachos are stacked up with beans that are excellent, they tasted like they had been flavored with bacon. The nachos are so big that we couldn't eat the whole thing. The service was super. They also have a salsa bar where you can choose what type of salsas you want.. If you visit the Rio Grande Valley I would recommend giving El Pato a try.
When we got home Flo was waiting for us at the back door. After changing clothes I took her for a short walk. When got back she decided she wanted to stay outside so I put her on her chain. Then I went to the club house to take a shower. She stayed outside the whole time I was gone. When we went inside I decided to take a nap. While I was napping Larry read and took care of Flo.
In the evening we went to Pharr South to attend Randy Dougherty's DBD Dance. He had 18 couples, which made 4 squares and two couples sitting out. Larry and I sat out the last tip. Randy is a talented caller but his dances aren't quite as smooth as some of the callers. I think this is because he is constantly calling challenging non-standard moves. We always have a good time with Randy.
