Monday 1-9 Busy Couple of Weeks

Having Fun Square Dancing
Today was a gorgeous day and with a wind out of the south it was much warmer than the last few days. The weather has been weird caused by a couple cold fronts coming through. Some days we have started out running the heater and by the end of the day we are running the air conditioner. A cold front came through last weekend with a wind out of the north and it didn't get out of the 40's.

Tomorrow will complete two fabulous weeks of dancing in the Rio Grande Valley. So far we have danced 12 A2 dances, 2 A2 workshops and 2 DBD dances. We have danced to five different callers: Nick Hartley, Darryl Lipscomb, Joe Saltel, Randy Dougherty and Bronc Wise. On the weekends we have been driving around exploring the small cities in the valley.  We have met a lot of friendly people. The dancing has been a lot of fun and we're learning a lot.

This morning we started out by going to El Valle Del Sol for an A2 dance. Bronc usually calls the dance but he had another commitment so he had Darryl Lipscomb cover for him. It was a super dance with 9 squares. Darryl has a way of putting the dancers in different positions and he makes you think.

On the way home from the dance we stopped at Stars Drive-In for lunch, it looks a lot like a Sonic. Larry had a coupon from the newspaper, buy a regular burger and get a second one free. We got the burgers and a large order of onion rings. We were close to home so we took the food back to the Minnie. After lunch I took Flo for a walk and when we got back she got a snack. Then Larry and I went to the McAllen Library where they have free WIFI that anyone can use,  we found a nice couch to sit on and caught up on some of the YouTube Video channels we follow. The library also has a small store where they sell used books, it appears some are from the library and others are donated. The prices are quite reasonable, $2 for a hardback and $1 for a paperback, the even had some books on sale for less, one rack was 10 for $1. We did not buy any since we already have a large amount of books we have bought from our own library that we have not read and Larry is now reading more on the kindle. On the way home we stopped by Walmart and bought a chicken for our dinner.

In the evening we went over to Pharr South for Randy Dougherty's A2 dance. We had exactly four squares. In between the square dancing tips there was round dancing. The cuer was Ron Woolcock. There were four couples that danced the rounds. We had another fun time dancing to Randy. Once again Randy made it very challenging. We had a busy day of dancing. LIFE IS GOOD!!!!!
