Saturday 1-21 Hobbies

Did you notice that I missed making a blog post yesterday? Not too often that I miss one but the last few days the wireless internet here at the park has been a bit unreliable and when I went to write my post it was down. I normally compose my blog posts late at night and the internet did not come up before I went to bed. Not a major problem, if it had really bothered me I could have turned on our hot spot and written my blog post. The good news is it is up tonight.

We are still square dancing, one dance on Friday and a really big dance tonight. It was a fast and fun plus dance with over 20 squares on the floor, some folks were even dressed up. We had a terrific time.

Do you have a hobby? What is a hobby? The definition of a hobby is an activity done regularly in one's leisure time for pleasure. If I go by the definition of a hobby then Larry and I have had a lot of hobbies in our lives. Some we have done together and others we done by ourselves. Some of the hobbies we have done together were scuba diving, racing radio control cars, snow skiing, water sports, reading and square dancing. Larry's hobbies have included things like riding motor cycles, house projects, working on our vehicles, and doing other things with his hands. My hobbies in the years have been jig saw puzzles, Sudoku puzzles, playing computer games and taking care of the house. Sometimes when we get into a rut we try to think of hobbies to get into. Last year we got crafty for a short period and made a few bracelets.

Some people get into arts and craft hobbies such as woodwork, stain glass, painting, knitting, sewing, quilting and making knick knacks. Other people get into sports and call it a hobby such as football, soccer, basketball, baseball and others.

Some more winners
Yesterday we went to the Rio Grande Valley Wood Carvers Show in San Juan. It was a small show but it was nice to walk through it. There were booths were the wood carvers were selling their work. One of the booths a person was making a carving of an Indian. They had a contest where the wood carvers entered for a ribbon. These folks have a lot of talent and their product have a lot of detail in them.

Radio control planes waiting for their turn to fly
Military radio control vehicles on display
Today we attended a radio control air show. The workmanship on the planes were outstanding with the colors and the detail they put in the planes. The also had some radio control boats and military vehicles. The pilots did some aerobatics. It was fun to walk around and look at planes.

Find a hobby and have fun.
