Mardi Gras Dance Outfits |
We have been hanging around the house for the last few days and we haven't picked up our mail in about a week so we loaded Flo into the car and off to town we went. The torch we use to start the pellets we use for smoking meat was getting low on propane. Our first stop was Walmart to see if they had the propane cylinder we needed. We thought about picking up one of the cylinders that we use for our portable gas grill but decided against it since it would not fit into the case with the torch. Larry figured that The Home Depot would have the propane cylinder that does fit so we went to The Home Depot. Larry was surprised to find out the cylinder that fits in the case is the same price as the one that works for the gas grill, he thought it was going to be a lot more money. While there we picked up a pack of three pairs of gloves, didn't really need three pair but they had the pack for $9.98 or individual pairs were about the same price. Then we went to The UPS Store to get our mail and pick up a package we had waiting for us. We hadn't been to The Goodwill Store for many months so on the way home we stopped by. It was our lucky day we found three shirts for Larry and four shirts and a skirt for me. When we got home Larry open the package and was surprised to see how a couple of our new hats were shipped. They were squished into a plastic bag. When he took them out of the bag they had creases. I got my iron out and steamed the creases out of them, now they look great.

During the afternoon I started another Cork O'Connor book called Iron Lake, this is the first book of the series. Larry finished working on my yearly book and now it's ready to be ordered.

Michele and Dave Vieira |
In the evening we met up with Louis at Walmart and went to the Mardi Gras Dance at Allemande Hall. Every year Coryell County Squares invites Dave and Michelle Vieira to do their Mardi Gras Dance. This year the Coryell County Squares teamed up with The Waco Stars to host the dance. Before the dance begins there is a cute ceremony of crowning a king and queen of the Mardi Gras. The new king and queen get to dance for free for an entire year at all of the Coryell County Squares dances. Last year Larry was crowned the king and today he had to give up his crown. The queen from last year, Kim, wasn't at the dance so Pam Smith substituted for her. Larry and Pam did their last walk around the hall waving at their subjects before giving up their crowns. Then the new king and queen were announced via a drawing. Larry put the robe and crown on the new king and Pam did the same to the new queen. Then the new king and queen did their walk around the hall. Even though Larry had to give up his crown he is still the king of his castle. There were five squares for square dancing. Dave did the calling and did a super job. Michele cued either round dancing or line dancing in between the square dancing tips. Michele and Dave changed hats through out the dance. We had a great time.
