3-12 Oh My!!!

Larry's favorite snack
Oh my!!!  Last month Larry sent his mother a box of healthy snacks for her birthday, today he gets a email from Amazon telling him the pistachios included in the box were recalled due to a possible health risk. Wonderful Pistachios voluntarily announced a recall for some of their pistachios due to Salmonella contamination.  He e-mailed Shirley to notify her if she hadn't eaten the pistachios to throw them away. His mother does not get a lot of email so it could be days before she logs on to read them so when he had not heard from her he called via the phone. She hadn't eaten the pistachios yet so she would throw them away. While talking about pistachios he told her that we had not yet eaten all of the pistachios she had sent us at Christmas. She said she had bought them at Costco. The recall had not mentioned Costco and they usually sell the Kirkland brand but while on the phone he looked at the pistachios, they were Wonderful Pistachios and the very box of pistachios we had was on the list, now he had to check the lot number on the package and luckily it was not one of the listed lots.

Bell County Expo Center
We woke up this morning and it had once again rained and it was wet outside. While waiting for the rain to go away I put the rest of the brisket Larry smoked the other day in a crock pot, while the brisket tasted fine it was still a bit tough. We had read that some people cook brisket in a crock pot so as an experiment we decided to continue cooking the brisket via the crock pot and see if it would tenderizes the meat. Now as everyone knows a crock pot cooks very slow so it was going to take awhile. We loaded Flo into the car and took her for ride to the Bell County Expo Center. Bell County was having a garage sale to raise money for the Bell County Museum. It is a free museum that has displays on the history of Bell County. We visited the museum a couple years ago when Shirley came to visit. The Expo Center was busy with different events going on. Larry and I walked around the garage sale for about an hour and didn't buy anything but we enjoyed looking at the different stuff that was being sold. On the way home we stopped at The UPS Store to get our mail, we had not picked up the mail in a week.

Look how tall the weed is. It's almost to my hip.

Modifying the car dolly jack
After lunch I took a nap for a couple of hours. While I was napping the sun came out for a little while so Larry worked on the new car dolly. Larry didn't want to have to lift the dolly on and off the hitch every time he towed the car so he modified the jack. He said it didn't take long, he had to move it up and drill a couple of new holes. He also lubed and greased everything that needed to be greased. When I woke up he was finished.

Yesterday Larry did a little edging in the yard and our electric weed-eater's battery died. The sun was shining so today he finished edging that area. There are weeds all over our yard and they are out of control so once the yard dries out we will have to mow. Since Larry wanted to do some work on the dolly we had kept it in the garage here at the house but now that he was done he wanted to store it with the Minnie. Hooking it up worked perfect, he didn't have to lift it to put on the truck hitch. After putting the dolly on the hitch we took it to where the Minnie is stored. We had to take the Minnie out before putting the dolly in the unit. We were extremely happy that we got the car dolly where the ramps folded up and the tongue folded back otherwise it wouldn't have fit in the storage unit with the Minnie, nor would it have fit in the garage with the car.

Oh, our brisket crock pot experiment worked perfectly and we had nice and tender brisket for dinner.
