Rainy Day |
It drizzled on and off all day, actually that is a bit deceiving, at times it pored, our gutters were overflowing and we had water flowing by the front of the house. The dry creek in the back was flowing like an actual creek. Yesterday the weather report predicted rain for the next five days so I took some brisket down to thaw. Larry woke up before 6:00 and couldn't go back to sleep so he got up. I noticed around 7:00 he wasn't in bed so I crawled out of bed to see where he was. I found him getting the grill ready to smoke the brisket. He was going to try something new considering the brisket was a little over cook the last time. He was going to try to keep the temperature between 225 and 230. It was super hard to keep the temperature low because of the wind and blowing rain. He had the temperature prong in the grill and the temperature was flexing dramatically. It was on the high side. He turned the burner on the grill as low as he could and ended up cracking the lid of the grill to get the temperature down where it should be. After the brisket was smoking for five hours he took it off the grill to prevent it from over cooking and drying out. It came out the best so far. By experimenting as we have been doing Larry said he has been learning more and more about smoking brisket. We need to learn how to keep the temperature at a constant temperature of 225. Then we can figure out how long to smoke it for. While the brisket was smoking I did laundry, started reading another book and worked out for an hour with Wii Sports and a half hour with Just Dance.
The finished product from today |
On Tuesday nights we don't have any square dancing so we started watching a HBO series called Parade's Ends starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Rebecca Hall and Adelaide Clemens. Benedict is the actor who plays Sherlock Holmes on PBS's Sherlock, if you like him in that show you will probably like this, he is a really talented actor. This show is a romantic drama set in the times of WWI. We watched two of the episodes and we like it so far.
