6-17 Pre- Festival Activities

Wow, we’re tired after a day of Plus square dancing. We woke up this morning and walked over to the RV Park cafe for breakfast. There were two ladies working behind the counter cooking breakfast. It was a full breakfast, you order what you want and they cook it. Larry and I ordered the same breakfast, we both had a piece of bacon, a pancake and a sausage pattie. After breakfast we went back to the Minnie and relaxed with Flo for an hour. The plus dancing didn’t start until 10:30 at the Waco Convention Center so we weren’t in any hurry. They had an A session between 9:00 and 10:30 and we got there a half hour early so we had a chance to watch. The first half hour of the plus session was introduction to DBD, Wade Drive was the caller. We have been doing DBD for quire some time so we knew the stuff he went over. The other hour was high energy plus dancing, every fifteen minutes they changed out the caller. We danced to five different callers in the morning and six callers in the afternoon. There were six squares in the morning and seven in the afternoon. We had an hour and a half break between the two sessions, that wasn’t really enough time to go back to Flo so we went to Jimmy Johns for lunch with Kathy, Ken and Maureen. This was the first time we ate at Jimmy Johns, we shared an Italian sub and a bag of Jimmy Johns barbecue chips. The food was good. We had a super day of square dancing.

We were glad that we had three hours to rest before the Pre-Festival dance. Flo had a great day, when we got home she met us at door. We opened the door and she decided it was time to go out, so we took her for a walk. She got in and out of the Minnie a lot better than yesterday. Her back end didn’t give way during her walk. When we got back to the Minnie Larry and I took a short nap. Then it was time for dinner. I cooked up the enchiladas I had brought with us. After dinner we got ready for the Pre-Festival Dance. Tonight there was a lot more people there and we couldn’t count how many squares there were. Some of the dancers were dressed up in different outfits. The dance tonight had two mainstream tips and then a plus tip. In between each tip they had two round dances. We danced to four different callers and the cuer was Mark Prow. At 10:30 they were going to dance on an expansion bridge but we were too tired to hang around. We left before the last tip. We had a great day of square dancing, now it’s time to rest so we can do it again tomorrow.
