Field Tract Campground
Last night it wasn’t hot enough to run the air conditioner but it was hot enough to run a fan. By the time we woke up it had cooled off. I woke up this morning feeling a lot better than I have in about a week, I’m not saying that I’m perfect but pretty close. For breakfast I baked some cinnamon rolls. Afterwards Larry and I went over and took a shower. When we got back we got the Minnie ready to go. There was no hiking and there really wasn’t any reason to stay at Rio Bravo any longer. We had a nice stay at Rio Bravo Campground now it’s time to move on.

As we were driving down the road we saw a group of people rafting down the Rio Grande River. While taking pictures of them we saw a person doing a stand up paddle board. When we continued our drive we noticed that there were places where there wasn’t a lot of water and we wondered how could the raft go over the rocks. I guess we will never know. When we got to Espanola we stopped and did laundry. Afterwards we went to lunch at Wendy’s and then by Walmart and picked up a couple of things. While I was putting things away Larry changed his mind about where we were going next. He decided that we didn’t need any power so we would go back into the mountains and stay at a National Forest Campground.

Larry decided we would stay in an area we had never stayed before which was by Pecos. The campground we decided to stay in was Field Tract in the Santa Fe National Forest. It is a great campground with the Pecos River flowing on the back of it. The campground is small but has a lot of trees which gives the camper privacy. The bathrooms have running water and some of the sites have beautiful covered fireplaces to keep tenters out of the weather. We picked a site that had an easy way to get to the river. Once we setup the Minnie for the night we walked Flo to the river where she had the opportunity to wade in the water. She got wet up to her chest but she wasn’t sure about the current. After she finished wading in the river we setup our chairs and relaxed until it was time for dinner. Larry barbecued some Hatch Chili Burgers for our dinner. After dinner we took Flo for a walk around the campground and met a lady. We talked to her for a little while and then we went back to our site. When the sun started to go down we packed up our chairs and went inside. Once inside we called it a night. We had a wonderful day at Filed Tract Campground.
