10-9 Manzano Mountains State Park

Manzano Mountains

Dinner at Manzano Mountains State Park

We woke up to overcast skies. Larry fed Flo and then took her for her morning walk. When he got back he told me not to hurry getting up, it was cold and foggy outside. I finally got up at 8 and made breakfast. There are a couple of trails at Manzano Mountains park, one is a 2 mile loop called the Outer Loop and the other one is a half mile Nature Trail. We left Flo at home and hiked the trails. They were very easy to hike except there was a lot of rocks. The scenery was pretty with all the Pinion pines and junipers. They had cleared out all the underbrush so there was some erosion on the trails. When we started our hike we saw a beautiful gray squirrel hopping around. We didn’t see any deer but we did see their prints. It only took us about an hour to do the hike and we enjoyed it very much. We hadn’t hiked a lot during our trip so we were grateful that the trails were easy. When we got home Flo greeted us at the door. After she calmed down we had a snack and then I took her for a walk. When we got back I started a new book called Mary Mary by James Patterson, Flo slept and Larry finished reading a book. When it was time for lunch I made chicken enchiladas with green chili sauce. I had picked up the wrong sauce but they came out good. We had to add a little hot sauce on them. Flo likes it when I make enchiladas because I give her some of the chicken.

It was over cast all day so we spent the day indoors under the heater. Larry and I read and took a nap and Flo slept. Occasionally we took Flo for a walk, we didn’t want to hurt her hips so we don’t walk her too far. For dinner we had leftover enchiladas and for dessert I baked oatmeal raisin cookies. We had a very relaxing day at Manzano Mountains State Park.
