It rained through out the night and into the morning. Larry got a channel on the weather radio and it said that it was going to rain all over New Mexico until Wednesday or Thursday. The temperature was going to be lower than predicted so we decided we would go to Albuquerque. At the square dancing center the club was having the 2nd Annual Horny Toad Hoedown, there were three sessions of Mainstream and Plus dances. The club brought in a caller from Arizona named Mike Sikorsky and Shirley Underwood as the cuer for rounds. We arrived in Albuquerque at 12 and found the square dancing center. We didn’t have the schedule of what was going on so Larry walked over to the hall and found that the square dancing workshop session was at 1:00 so we had time to have lunch. While I made lunch Larry took Flo for a walk around the parking lot. When we went to the workshop it was still raining so we didn’t crack a window. We figured it was cool enough. There were only two squares but some of the people we had met in Red River and they were happy to see us. The session was two and a half hours long. It gave us a chance to get to know Mike Sikorsky as a caller. After the session we went back to the Minnie. It was a little warm so we cracked the windows. We relaxed until it was time for the dance at 8. I did some dot-to-dots and Larry surfed the internet. For dinner we had soup and after dinner I took Flo for a walk. When we got back it was time to get ready for the dance. The dance had seven mainstream squares and six plus squares, there were a lot of round dancers. The club provided snacks. We danced seven tips and in between the tips Shirley Underwood did a round. We had a great time meeting new people and dancing with them. Mike is a good performer but Larry and I thought the dancing wasn’t that challenging. The dance hall in Albuquerque is wonderful, it was built for square dancing and has been really well maintained. The floors are wood and there is built in seating all around the exterior walls along with tables and seating off to one side. We were also allowed to camp in their parking lot while we were there. This is also the weekend of the Albuquerque Balloon Festival, one of the dancers asked if we were in town for the balloon festival and he told her no, we were there to dance.
