Saturday 3-18 Hill Country Drive

Larry came in the bedroom around 8:00 am and asked if I was getting up. I asked, are we going somewhere? he said not without you. I got up and got dressed. One of our friends from Marble Falls had made a post on Facebook about Marble Falls Market Days. Larry thought it might be fun to attend and we could combine this with a drive through the Hill Country looking for wildflowers. Once I got dressed I put a cooler together for our adventure to Marble Falls which is 90 miles from the house. I gave Flo a snack and told her we would be back later. We figured she would be happier in the house instead of the car all day.

On the way to Marble Falls we swung by Jack N Jill Doughnuts where we bought a couple of sour creme doughnuts along with a dozen doughnut holes. We arrived at Marble Falls about 10:30 am. The Market Days were in the downtown area and went for a few blocks. The vendors there were local people selling their wares such as jewelry, baked goods, jellies, clothing and other knickknacks. Some of the shops were open in the square so we walked through a couple of them. We walked around for about an hour and the only thing we bought was some snicker doodle cookies. After leaving Market Days we drove to the lake and walked around the lakeside park a bit. It was cloudy and windy so the lake was a little rough. We had a good time in Marble Falls.

The weather has warmed up here in Central Texas earlier than normal and the spring wildflowers are already out, normally it would be another three or four weeks. We continued our drive by heading towards Llano. We saw a lot of bluebonnets and Indian Painters between Marble Falls and Llano. We stopped along the highway and took a few pictures. When we got to Lampasas we stopped at Mill Pond Park. We have been there before but we enjoyed walking around it once again. It is a beautiful park with a creek that runs through it. It has water fountains, big extension bridge, a couple of small bridges that go over the creek, a swimming pool, a big waterfall, playground and a walking trail that takes you around the park. The park was being used by the locals.

When we got to Killeen we decided to stop for lunch at Fuddruckers. We got home around 3:00 and Flo was one happy dog. We had left her by herself for six hours. After relaxing a little bit I worked out for an hour (a half hour with Gold's Gym and a half hour with my Wii Fit).

We weren't hungry when dinnertime came around so we just snacked. In the evening Larry rented Pete's Dragon off of Google Play. It was a cute movie and we enjoyed watching it. We also watched our YouTube videos. We had a great day.
