Saturday 10-11-25 Last Day of the Turkey Track Bluegrass Festival, Fried Pies & Music

Turkey Track Campground

We woke up to the temperature of 57 degrees. It got to 84.

Today was the last day of the 48th Turkey Track Bluegrass Festival. The day started out with the Harmony Freewill Baptist Church having their fund raiser of fried pies. They showed up at 8:00 am and sold hundreds of fried pies to raise money. I showed up at 7:45 am and the pies showed up a few minutes before 8:00. The pies sold for $2.00 a piece. They had chocolate, apple, apricot, peach, raisins and coconut. I bought two apple pies, one coconut and one raisin. The pies were individually wrapped and marked what flavor they were. It was a long line but it went fast I was back by 8:05. I heated up a couple of the pies (an apple and the coconut) for our breakfast. They were good.

After having a pie we went for a walk around the campground. We walked for about 20 minutes for .82 mile. Then I walked over to the restrooms. By the time I got back I had walked 1.1 miles.

The music didn't start until 1:00 pm. In between the two sessions of music we relaxed with a book. Larry finished his book so he started a new one. I finished the third book of Vienna Blood called Fatal Lies and started the fourth book of Vienna Blood called Vienna Secrets by Frank Tallis.

At 12:45 I walked over to the stage area to listen to music. The groups this afternoon were Roger Sparks' Ole Timely Fiddlin Session, The Punches Family, Catahoula Drive, Rhonda Vincent & The Rage and Spring Street. Roger Spark's session was very nice. Roger had six amateur fiddle players take turns playing. One of the players was a seven year old girl who has been playing for two years. They play with a base player and a guitar player. Roger and the band started the 45 minutes out by playing. Each fiddle player played twice and the last song everyone played. It was very nice. The Punches Family and Catahoula Drive sessions were half Gospel and half Bluegrass songs. When Catahoula Drive started up Larry arrived. Rhonda Vincent & The Rage did some Country music which they changed into Bluegrass. They have to be in Pennsylvania tomorrow to perform to celebrate the Navy's 250th Anniversary. Their bus and instruments are on the way there. After their performance tonight they have to go to Little Rock AR to catch a flight out at 5:30 am. The ended up borrowing other musicians instruments. It took them a bit to get the sound right. Tey did an outstanding job of performing. We didn't stay for the Spring Street band but we had heard them yesterday.
