Sunday 5-12 Happy Mothers Day

I hope everyone had a Happy Mother's Day. I don't have any children but I still had a great day.

It was a very mild day with some sunshine and the temperature in the mid 70's. We hung around the house. I worked on my puzzle and worked out with my Gold's Gym for a half hour. Larry worked on a couple of projects. The first one was installing a switch in the mailbox that will notify us when the mailbox is opened. He has been playing with this off and on for a couple of weeks. The original magnetic switch did not work consistently, he thinks that is because one of two things, the mailbox is metal and the magnet had to attach to the metal or it could have been because the door of the mailbox is held closed by a magnet. He ended up disassembling and removing the magnetic switch and replacing it with a physical switch that he modified with a push rod. He then mounted both pieces to a plate that he mounted behind the faceplate inside the mailbox, he used velcro command strips so he could easily remove it to change the battery. The battery is suppose to last a year. When the mailbox is opened the rod is released and we get a message on our phone, when the door is closed we get another message. So far it is working great.

The next project was to re-build the box for our water filter. When we had the house built Larry had a whole house water filter installed. He then built a box out of foam board to cover it, he insulated it and installed a small light inside of it so that if he was ever worried about freezing temperatures inside the garage he could simply plug it in and the light would keep it warm. Last week when he lengthened the plumbing to install the water monitor he had to cut a hole in the side of the box to accommodate the extended plumbing. Today he used some more foam board and added an extension onto the original box. He left an opening so that he could see the water monitor. It came out really nice.

A short update on the flowers I planted. After all the rain the flowers are growing very tall. It has been over a month since I planted the flowers and it has been exciting to see them grow so fast.

In the evening we watched the movie My Name Is Nobody off of Amazon. It was 1973 western movie starring Henry Fonda and Terence Hill. We have seen it before and we still enjoy it. Afterwards I watched a few episodes of Suits. We had a great day.
