Tuesday 5-7 Keeping Busy

Doing Projects

I slept in this morning and didn't get out of bed until 8:30. Larry decided he would do a few projects around the house before the rain came in.

The first project was installing another Smart Door Controller. He already installed one on the double garage door so he decided to put one on the other garage door. The installation was a bit more difficult considering he had to work around the boat. He installed it like the other one. When he tested it he got an error. He found out that the magnetic contact sensor wasn't working. He took it off the wall above the garage door and checked it out. He could get it to work at times but when he put it back on the wall it wouldn't work. He had some extra contact sensors from the alarm system we put in the house so he tried one of them. It worked perfect so he cut out the bad one and replaced it. Then he programed the Smart Door Opener into Alexa. Now we can open both garage doors through our phone or via Alexa. We can also check to make sure the doors are closed.

Next up was the lawn mower. We have an old Honda lawn mower and the blade has not been replaced or sharpened in years. Instead of sharpening it he ordered a new one and replaced it. While he had the lawn mower on the table he also replaced the air filter. Before replacing the filter he cleaned out the area. Now it was time to test out the new parts.

Larry mowed the front yard. The blade worked perfect. Afterwards he weedeated and blew off the grass trimming.

While Larry did his projects I helped when needed. I also worked on my jigsaw puzzle.

In the evening we watched an Amazon movie called What They Had. It was a movie about a couple getting old and the wife had Alzheimer's. It starred Robert Foster and Blythe Danner. It was a good movie.
