Wednesday 6-6 Outstanding Day

Outstanding Day

For breakfast we tried something new, Duncan Hines Perfect for 1, cinnamon coffee cake. It's very easy to make, all you have to do is pour the mix into a cup, add 3 tablespoons of water and stir. Then pop it in the microwave for 1 minute and 10 seconds, let it sit for 2 minutes, then it's ready to eat. It was good. Perfect for 1 comes in other flavors. You can buy it at Walmart.

Trying something new

Our lawn crew comes every other Thursday. If the grass is growing rapidly we will mow the front lawn the other weeks. Last Thursday was the crew day and this week Larry mowed the front yard. After doing this he blew off the driveway and front porch.

While Larry did the mowing I cleaned the bathrooms, dusted, vacuumed the house and mopped the floors. I also did laundry. I usually do these chores on Thursdays but while Larry mowed I didn't have anything to do so I did them today.

Doing chores around the house

After lunch it was still a little windy but with my tooth and the wind we hadn't been to the lake for almost two weeks so we decided to put the boat in. I really didn't feel like it but once on the lake I was glad to be out of the house. We started out by floating a little. Then we decided to do a set of wake surfing. When we finished surfing we floated again. While floating we saw a couple of boats pulling kids around in tubes. We had a great time at the lake.

In the evening we watched music videos on YouTube. While doing this I worked on m puzzle. We had a relaxing evening.

Tuesday 6-5 Just Having Fun

We woke up to a breezy morning, too windy to go to the lake.

Every year Larry works hard trying to keep the yards looking good. He doesn't do much with the farthest part of the backyard so it is always a bit bleak. We would have preferred not to have grass back there but it is required by the county since our aerobic septic system sprays over the area. Larry decided to put some fertilizer on it. He went online and found that Walmart had the best price on the fertilizer he wanted so off to the Temple Walmart we went. We looked all over the place and couldn't find it. The lady in the garden area looked for it and couldn't find it. She said the inventory must be off. We went to Customer Service and they asked the manager of the area and she also said the online inventory must be off. We left and went to the Walmart in Belton, once again they didn't have it. We went home and Larry placed on online order from Walmart for the fertilizer. Now we wait.

Driving around to find fertilizer

Larry has been tweaking the motorcycle to get it to run the way he wants. The day warmed up so after lunch we went on a ride. The motorcycle ran really well, not sure if he will tweak it some more or consider it done.

After our ride I worked on my puzzle and Larry read.
In the evening we watched three episodes of Ambassador on Amazon. We had a very nice relaxing day.

Monday 6-4 Dancing with the Sundancers

A rain front

A front came in at midnight, there was a lot of lighting, thunder and rain. By morning the rain was gone and the temperature was a little cooler. It didn't get out of the 90's.
Larry continues to work on the motorcycle carburetor, he was not happy with the last change he made so this morning he changed it back to a previous setup. Then he took the motorcycle for a ride and it ran great. He wants to take it for another ride with me along but he wants it to be hot outside so maybe we will do that tomorrow.
I took the Family Vacation jigsaw puzzle apart and started working on another one. This puzzle is also a 2,000 piece Buffalo puzzle. I think this puzzle will be a little more challenging considering it has a lot more similar colors. But I always like a challenge.

In the evening we went to Sun City to dance with the Sundancers. There were enough people for six squares and we had enough people to do an A tip. Brad always does a great job making the dance very interesting and fun. We are very lucky to be able to dance to him every Monday.

Sunday 6-3 Staying Cool

It was another hot day!!!

Yesterday, when we were in New Braunfels our car thermometer said it was 100 degree. Today at 4:00 it was 99 degrees at the house. It's already hot and officially it's not summer yet. I think we are going to have a hot summer.

First thing in the morning we went to town to do a little grocery shopping. We went early to avoid the crowd considering it was the weekend. We were back home by 9:30.

Not much happened today. Larry read the paper and we watched a few tech shows. Started with the GizWiz and then a couple we hadn't watched in a long time. One was Daily Tech News, which talks about current technology and the other was All About Android.

For dinner I barbecued a rack of baby back ribs. They came out good.

Our dinner
In the evening we watched the movie Rogue One. It is a Star Wars movie that I like. We had a very relaxing day.

Saturday 6-2-18 Awesome Day of Dancing

Having fun square dancing

In the morning Larry and I finished assembling the Family Vacation jigsaw puzzle. It only took three days to put this 2000 piece puzzle together. Larry was a great help.

Family Vacation puzzle finished

We spent the afternoon and evening square dancing in New Braunfels to Ross Howell. New Braunfels is 115 miles from the house, it took us about 2.5 hours to get there considering we had go through Austin and Round Rock via I35. I35 can be a nightmare because of the traffic. The event was called Let's Get'er Done!, it is a three day event for A2, C1 and C2 dancers. Friday night had a dance for C1 and C2 dancers. Saturday had three, two hour sessions: 1 for C1 and two for A2, we attended the A2 sessions. There were seven squares. We were surprised considering the state square dancing festival was going on in Tyler this weekend. We had a super time dancing with friends and some dancers we have never danced with. Ross Howell did an excellent job of calling and made it challenging.

Walking through a problem move after the tip

We have been to New Braunfels a few times. It is known for tubing down the Guadalupe & Comal rivers, which we have done. It also has a big water park called Schlitterbahn which we have also visited. During the three hour break between sessions we went to dinner at Denny's and drove around New Braunfels. The city was very busy because of the shops, restaurants and tubing. Both rivers had a lot of tubers. There was a historic bridge in the city, which we drove by but couldn't walk on it because there was no parking. We had a nice drive around New Braunfels.

We had an awesome day of dancing to Ross Howell.

Friday 6-1 First Day of June

It's almost summer

Today was the first day of June, summer is just around the corner but it's already in the mid to high 90's.

Larry is still playing with the carburetor on the motorcycle. He adjusted it a little and then we took it for a ride. It has been running a bit lean but now it's a bit rich and it hesitates once in awhile. When we got back the engine was too hot to work on so Larry put the motorcycle away until another day, then he'll tweak it again. We're in no hurry, it doesn't matter how long it takes to get it where he is satisfied with it.

We spent the day working on the jigsaw puzzle and we're almost finished.

In the evening we watched a couple of documentaries on Amazon. The first one was called West By Orphan Train, it was about The Orphan Trains that were used from 1856 to 1929. It was a supervised welfare program that transported orphaned and homeless children from the over populated eastern cities to rural areas to help work the farms. It was a very good documentary. The second one was The Fabulous Life of Elisabeth Vigee LaBrun, it was about a female artist in 1800's. She was a renowned painter in Paris. It was another good documentary. We had a relaxing day.

relax and enjoy life

Thursday 5-31 Goodbye Tooth

Going to the dentist

Remember a few days ago I wrote that my tooth hurt. I had an appointment for the 13th of June to get it removed but suddenly it got painful. I called the dentist office and they were able to get me in this morning. It didn't take long for the dentist to pull the tooth. Now, I have to be careful what I eat for a few days. The dentist did say I could go to the lake tomorrow but I think I'll wait until I heal a bit.

After getting my tooth removed we spent the afternoon working on Family Vacation puzzle.

On Thursdays Patricia and Larry normally ride with us to the A dance in Sun City. Early in the day Larry e-mailed Patricia to tell her that we may not go. Late in the day I decided I would be ok to dance so we drove by ourselves. There were enough people for two squares plus two couples. Bob called a couple of tips and we danced the other tips via tape. We had a great time dancing with friends.
