Thursday 5-24 Hot Humid Day

What a humid day we had

We woke up to overcast skies and cool temperatures, however, by late afternoon it was in the low 90's with high humidity.

This morning Larry worked on the motorcycle. It runs alright but it runs a bit rich. He decided to rebuild the carburetor. He removed it and in disassembling he discovered damaged screws so he knows someone has been inside it before. After cleaning and adjusting he reinstalled it and took it for a spin. It now runs a bit leaner but he doesn't feel it is quite right so he ordered a new carburetor.

In the evening Larry and Patricia came to the house and we all went to Sun City to dance with the Sundancers. There were enough people for two squares plus two extra couples. The dancing was very challenging and we had fun. LIFE IS GOOD!!!

Wednesday 5-23 An Awesome Day at the Lake

An awesome day at the lake!!!!

We had an awesome day.

We had invited Louise out for lunch and to go boating. Louise and Alice arrived about 9:45. For lunch I made hot dogs stuffed with cheese and wrapped with bacon, along with that we had baked beans. Louise brought us brownies to snack on and for dessert we had Key Lime pie. Thank you, Louise for the brownies.

Lunch

After lunch we went to the lake. It was a beautiful day with a few clouds. For the last couple of days we have had overcast skies and at times a little rain so we figured that the water in the lake would be a little cool. The water temperature had dropped a couple degrees, it's was 75. When you got in the water it was a little cold but you warmed up pretty fast. While at the lake we floated in the boat and went in the water a couple of times to cool off. There were only a few people at the lake. We were at the lake about an hour and had a great time visiting and floating.

Alice

When we got home we visited a little while longer. Larry loaded Louise's puzzle board into her car and we said our good-byes. We had a good visit with Louise and Alice.

In the evening we finished watching Harrow. Harrow has eleven different houses on campus and the one that was followed for a year was called West Acre. The series had eight episodes and each episode covered different activities the 66 boys did besides studies. They did plays, sports, musical stuff like singing and playing instruments. Some of the activities they compete with the other houses. I enjoyed watching the series very much. Then Larry read and I worked on my puzzle.

Tuesday 5-22 Doing Chores

Overcast Day

We woke up to overcast clouds and a 30 percent chance of rain.

Larry started the day off by fertilizing the yard. Then he spent the rest of the morning and into the afternoon reading. I did a little cleaning, laundry and worked on my puzzle.

Doing chores around the house

In the afternoon we went to town to do our weekly grocery shopping.

After dinner we started watching an Amazon series called Harrow. Harrow is an all boys public boarding school in London. England. It was founded in 1572 and is still being used. The series follows one of the homes on a campus that houses 66 boys for a year. It is a very good series.

Monday 5-21 Red, White and Blue Dance

Just laying back and taking it easy

It was overcast all day and sprinkled now and then. We stayed around the house, Larry read and I worked on my puzzle.

In the evening we went down to Sun City for their Monday square dance. This week it was their Red, White and Blue Dance in recognition of Memorial Day. They invited Charlie Robertson to call along side Brad Caldwell. They also invited Jerry and Lucy Pate to cue the round dancing. There were nine squares of dancers for the grand march and enough setting out for a couple more squares. There were a lot of round dancers. This was our first time to dance to Charlie Robertson, he is an International caller and did a good job tonight. The dance had two singing calls for each tip and two rounds in between the tips. Brad and Charlie called four mainstream tips and two plus tips. At the end of the dance Brad and Charlie did an A1 tip. We had enough people for two squares. We had a super night of dancing with friends.

Sunday 5-20 Dancing A1 to Dan Clairmont

Rainy Morning

Larry woke up to sprinkles, when I woke up it was overcast and very humid.

So far this year our yard is looking good, Larry wants to keep it looking as good as possible so this morning he applied per-emergent. About two months ago he also applied per-emergent and fertilized.

About an hour later the rain came. It rained hard for awhile. Larry was looking out the back window and saw the turkey standing in the rain. He was soaked but didn't seem to care. What a crazy bird.
Earlier this year Larry rebuilt our motorcycle helmets and they work really well but the lining that goes over the foam doesn't like to stay in place. It has not been a big problem, you simply make sure the lining is in place before you put the helmet on but Larry wants to fix it. When he was rebuilding the helmets he experimented with different adhesives so he knows which one to use on the lining. Yesterday he glued the front and today he did the back. The sides are left to do.

While Larry worked on his projects I worked on my puzzle.

Dan Clairmont has been teaching five couples A moves and they have gotten through A1 and are going to start A2 this week. He decided to call a special dance for the students, he invited more experienced A dancers to come to the dance and help out. The dance was at 4:00 in Liberty Hill, which is 50 miles from the house. We weren't sure if we were going to go because of the rain but it was going away when it was time for us to leave. There were enough people for three squares. Everyone had a great time.

Having fun square dancing with friends

On the way home we stopped at Denny for dinner. When we got home we watched YouTube videos. Afterwards Larry read and I worked on my puzzle. I also worked out with Just Dance for a half hour. I hadn't worked out with Just Dance for over two months so it was tough but I was glad to do it. We had a great day. The rain cooled everything off and it felt good.

Saturday 5-19 Just Another Day

Just another day

Everytime we take the boat out of the lake we wipe it down with Wax As-U-Dry. Years ago you could purchase it almost anywhere but over the years it has gotten difficult to find. You can find it on the web for astronomical prices but this morning we found some at Auto Zone. We only use about a bottle a year so we are are set for awhile.

Every third Saturday local merchants get together and line a few streets in downtown Belton to sell their wares, the event is called Belton Market Days. We haven't been in a long time so we decided to attend .Usually as the weather gets hotter there's not a lot of vendors who attend but today we were pleasantly surprised, we had to park a few blocks away. We walked around for about a half hour checking out what they had to offer. There were food vendors, clothing, homemade honey, homemade salsa, arts and crafts. There was a play area for kids. There was a little breeze so it was pleasant to walk around. We didn't buy anything.

When we got home Larry put the front tire back on the motorcycle, it appears he solved the flat tire problem.

When we were using the motorcycle to get around Chattanooga we used the phone as a GPS but I had to hold the phone and tell Larry where to turn. When we got home he ordered a phone holder and a power box to power the phone to keep it charged. The power box has a volt meter and a couple USB ports. In order to get power to the power box he had to remove the seat and the gas tank. Once everything was installed we went for a ride to test it out. Everything worked perfect. Now Larry can use the GPS on the phone without me having to hold the phone. We had a nice ride.

Installing phone bracket and power supply

While Larry worked on the motorcycle project I worked on my jigsaw puzzle.

In the evening we watched a few YouTube videos, we even watched a few of the videos we created a few years ago. It's always fun to reminisce. We had a very relaxing day.

Friday 5-18 Having Fun on Lake Belton

Let's go boating!!!

What a great day. Larry started the morning out by putting the last coat of polyurethane on Louise's puzzle board. Next up was the motorcycle, at times the front tire has been low on air so before we go for a ride Larry has to check the air pressure, sometimes it is fine, other times it is low. The last couple of days the tire has been going flat overnight. Larry decided to work on it. The tires are tube tires so he figured he would remove and patch the tube. It didn't take him too get the tire off and when he went to remove the valve stem from the tube he discovered it was loose. He tightened it up and put air in it. He's waiting until tomorrow to make sure that was the problem before he reinstalls it. While Larry did his projects I worked on my jigsaw puzzle.

Next we went to town. The first stop was getting rid of the boat's old oil. Then we filled the truck up with gas. Next we stopped at the UPS Store to pick up our mail. Then we went into Walmart and picked up an oil filter for the boat Larry had ordered. While there I picked up a couple of things.

Doing errands

After lunch it was a little windy but the sun was out so we went to the lake. When we got to the lake there was only one other vehicle in the park lot. We launched the boat, Larry parked the truck and trailer, then I picked him up at the dock. It was too windy to water ski but we assembled the Air Chair. We both did a set and it was a lot of fun. The water is 77 degrees. After flying the air chair we floated. Afterwards we wiped the boat down and headed home. We had a super day at the lake.

After dinner we watched an old Sherlock Holmes series on Amazon. It was The Leading Lady, filmed in 1991. It was ok considering it was done in 1991. We had a great day.
