Friends |
It was a little nippy all day.
We started the day out by going to J-Five Wednesday get together. They did all their announcements on what's happening. Even our RV park is slowing down. No newcomers and some folks are starting to leave.
Afterwards we went to Pharr South for a A dance with Darryl Lipscomb. We hadn't seen our friends Janet and Roger in a couple of weeks and they showed up today. It was nice to see them. We told them we missed them. Another couple Donna and John are going home tomorrow so we said good-bye to them. They had been here since before Thanksgiving so it was time for them to go home. Their home is in Colorado and it's still cold there but they thought it was time to go back. They're going to be missed but they'll be back next season. We had eight squares. We had a great time dancing with friends and to Darryl.

An hour later we were back dancing. This time it was C1 with Joe Saltel. We had two squares and one extra woman (Rhoda). Joe put us in positions that we weren't use to being in which was good. Larry, Rhoda and I were the only new dancers. People asked about the other new dances but we didn't know why they didn't come. The experienced dancers made sure that Rhoda danced to get floor time. Joe did an excellent job of walking the dancers through the moves. Joe only got two squares because all the C2 dancers were dancing across the street to Darryl. We had a great time.
On the way home we went grocery shopping. By the time we got home it was time to get ready for the J-Five 25th Banquet, this year it was called Elegant. Larry wore black pants, white shirt, black bow tie, black suspenders and a gray hat. I wore a brown dress, brown shirt and a brown hat. Other people dressed up for the occasion. The organizers did a super job. As we were entering into the hall Mary interviewed people like we were going to the Oscars. Her husband was taking pictures. They had a red carpet for us to walk on. Jolene greeted us at the door, she was dressed as a Maitre d. Jolene was also the MC for the awards. Once everyone was seated the serving staff served us. We had chicken, mash potatoes, green beans and salad. For dessert we had a cupcake. The hall was full. After everyone was finished eating the award ceremony began. The first award was given out to Mary and Fiona for their hard work on organizing events. There were awards given out for golf, shuffle board, darts and pool. The top winners in the categories received a small Oscar figurine. The golfers received a candy bar instead of the Tony and they got a golf ball. It was a fun night.
