American Legion Charles House in Austin Texas |
It was drizzling all day so we spent the day in doors. Occasionally we got up and let Flo out. Lately Flo has been getting out of the yard and walking down the street so when we let her out we have to keep an eye on her. She can't hear much so I don't want to put on her invisible fence collar because she won't be able to hear the beep before it shocks her. I finished reading the novel Personal Injuries written by Scott Turow. It was about a lawyer who goes undercover for the FBI. I felt it was hard to follow. While I read Larry worked on Christmas cards.
A couple of nights ago while we were square dancing Betsy Nyhan asked me if Larry and I could help her out tonight. She needed another couple to make two squares to provide entertainment for the Irish Hurling All Star Exhibition dinner. I agreed to it but Larry wasn't sure he really wanted to go. The dinner was located in downtown Austin at the American Legion Charles House which is about 80 miles away. We lived in Austin for over 20 years, moved away about 2.5 years ago and have only been back twice, both times for square dance events. We left simply due to the traffic, loved Austin but hated the traffic. We decided to go and we're glad we did, we had a super time. We danced outside on a brick floor and it was cold. We danced to singing calls and then the audience was invited up to dance with us. There were six squares when the audience joined in the fun. When the audience first joined in we danced the Cotton-Eye Joe, then they were introduced to square dancing. They were introduced to seven moves and did a great job. One young lady from our square had so much fun she decided she wanted to learn to square dance. Betsy did a fantastic job. LIFE IS GOOD!!!!
