I'm ready to go home |
Larry and I have been meaning to go to Habitat for Humanity to donate building materials that were leftover from when our house was built so today Larry loaded them in the truck and off to Killeen we went. Habitat runs stores in quite a number of cities called Restore, these are similar to a Goodwill store except with Restore people and businesses donate old, leftover or surplus construction items and Habitat resales these and makes a bit of money to help with their programs. While there we walked through the store, didn't see anything we wanted.
Early yesterday morning we dropped the Minnie off at Ponder Automotive, they called later in the day saying that the breaks were fine but they had found a couple of things worn out on the front end. Larry tries to do as many of the repairs on our vehicles as possible but these were items that would have been extremely difficult for him to do and he did not have the correct tools, not only that but once they were completed the Minnie would have to go back into the shop for an alignment, he told them to go ahead and complete the repairs. Today when we got back home we received a pleasant surprise, Ponder Automotive called to say the Minnie was ready, that was fast. So off we went, we picked up the Minnie and put her back in storage, she is ready for our next trip.
While we were in town we wanted to do a couple of errands so we had left Flo at home, it was too hot and humid to leave her in the car.

Last week when we didn’t go square dancing we streamed shows on the ROKU. We
watched a few short films from the 2014 Film Festival on PBS, where people summit
a short film and people vote on them. Another show was from America Reframed
called By the River of Babylon, which was about how the culture on the Mississippi
River changed after levees were built and oil companies came. We
watched a segment from Hardly Sound called Cross Road,
which was about a young couple in the music industry trying to get discovered.
On Sunday we watched a few documentaries off the Snag Film channel on the ROKU.
They were Lost for Life, Capturing the Friedmans and Amish: Out of Order. Lost
for Life was about juveniles who are in prison for life with no parole. Capturing
the Friedmans was about the struggles of a Jewish family when the father and youngest
son are arrested for child molestation. Amish: Out of Order was the first episode
of a series about the Amish. This episode was about the Amish once they left
their community and how they had to adapt to their new world. The shows were interesting.
Today we watched a movie called Longford, it was a 2003 biography of Lord Longford, a British campaigner whose beliefs often resulted in political debates and personal conflict. It was a good movie. Last Sunday a new series started on PBS called The Crimson Field, it is about a team of doctors, nurses and volunteers working together in a French field hospital during World War I. We watched the first episode last week and today we watched the second episode. So far we have enjoyed the series.
